not rly, and RO is not slow paced, well it had a somewhat faster pace in RO:CA (which I preferred), but still, why wouldn't they be interested in a good and different, realistic shooter and they are interested in a generic unrealistic shooter instead?

Realism = immersion = stronger game experience. A realistic game is never a bad thing.

...Is like dropping freelancer to go play space invaders again.

I really don't see what you did there ><
I figured you wouldn't. People on the opposite side of the coin, IE: fans of only CoD like games don't understand why other people prefer more realistic shooters. And yes, compared to CoD type games, RO is MUCH slower paced.

Do you understand now? You question why "anybody" likes those games, meanwhile they question why "anybody" likes games like RO or ARMA. Understand?

As for me, I enjoy all types. I enjoy CoD type games (when they aren't MW2) because it offers quick, jump in and jump out gameplay when I need a quick fix. RO is more paced. Just depends on what sort of a mood I'm in, as is the case with everyone. Just so happens that not everyone changes their mood for their game preference and stick to just one series over another constantly.

This is exactly it. People need to stop crying and being so single-minded, or at least stfu instead of trying to flame like it happened in this thread. I really can't stand either side acting like they are superior over the other.

I find it interesting that you quote "anybody", as if that was what I said.

I think missquoting someone is a very unethical way to prove your points.

My exact words were "I don't understand why CoD is so popular" because, is the same game over and over again, and I don't understand why each sequel sells more like the previous one, being essentially the same. (With added BS to the mix, like higher price and no dedicated servers)

and I wasn't even comparing it to RO in the first place. I just said CoD is but a generic shooter, and thats exactly what it is.

Possible reason(s) are that they play it because their friends play it (this is a big one, you can play a sucky game and it will be ok if you can play it with friends), that they can play it because they can get it on a console, that they don't know any better, that they fall into that rut where they have a game loyalty, etc etc.

If you had asked me the same thing after CODUO, I would have told you that COD2 was going to be the greatest most incredible game out there. (Note: I really hadn't played any other WW2 games prior to COD). I even preordered the collectors editions. Got it in the mail, started playing it and the newness was great but after about a week, it really kinda sucked. I was dumbfounded. Luckily a clanmate suggested ROOST available over Steam that was going to come out and I took a chance. Well, you get the idea.

But it is the first paragraph that keeps with the quote.

Now this explanation makes much more sense.

(Also a pity that the new CoDs are much more popular than the first one, but I doubt their fanbase is the same)

I never said you said anybody verbatim. I wasn't misquoting you at all. I still gave you an answer that fits your problem and the one I said. And yeah, I know you weren't comparing it to RO. You know how message boards work, right?

Not sure if that was a valid information, but i remember reading an article about MW2. It was saying that Activison invested more money in the publicity of MW2 than the game itself.

(In other words: I'd say about 75% of the people here are as intolerant as it gets, yet at the same time would never acknowledge that, but instead go on rambling and thinking that only what they say/play can be right)

That would be me as even HoS probably won't fit my needs.
It's going to be a decent game. I'm still going to get it on day one and I'll probably enjoy it but it simply isn't the game that I hoped it would be.

I could believe that.

Also, I see exactly where Zips is coming from, RO fans would say that CoD is too generic and nooby, and CoD fans would say that RO is too slow paced (which you can't deny) and dull.

Long story short, they cater to VERY different audiences and really shouldn't be compared.

fixed.:p
I heard there's a torture scene in black ops, any information about that?

A scene where an enemy is shot in slow motion with copious amounts of gore has been toned down for the German release.
A torture scene involving a prisoner has been completely eliminated from the German version.
The song Sympathy for the Devil by Mick Jagger has been removed.
No explosions that lead to limb loss.
Removal of what Germany deems

Yes, beware, German citizens! EA Games seeks to undermine your constitution and rob you of your human rights! Call of Duty: Black Ops is... dare I say, degenerate art!

Now seriously, what the hell has the song to do with censorship? I'm starting to agree with some people saying bollocks about freedom rights in Europe compared to the USA.

And anyway, Germany is known for much darker music than rolling stones.
