The thing I hate the most about CoD is how it replaced unreal and quake as the "it" games on pc. at least UT and quake made no qualms about what type of game they were. CoD portrays itself as authentic and realistic, and combined with the **** gameplay and complete lack of authenticity and realism, it just ruins it for me

To be honest, I think the series replaced Counterstrike more than it did UT. UT just died on its own, unfortunately.
I agree about the insultingly stupid dishonesty concerning the authenticity of earlier CoD titles though, but to be fair, they seem to have cut down on that pretty hard in this new iteration! In the multiplayer-side at least. Tomahawk+crossbow mode, Golden Gun mode or whatever they call their version... All honest, possibly fun, gamey game-modes. Singleplayer seems to be more about some Steven-Segal-like spy-movie plot now too and not about stupid war-scenarios anymore.

I'm still not much of a fan of the meta game. Earning levels, unlocking perks, etc. may all be fun online but for small Lans, which is the only environment I play CoD games in, I prefer no bull****, simple kill or be killed gameplay like in, say, CoD2.

All in all the series seems to be going in the right direction though. Less and less pretentious pseudo-realism, more and more game-modes that remind me of games like Goldeneye and games of a similar ilk, and I hear they have regular ol' servers again now too. The day that I get a new CoD game has not come just yet, but it may come. I like what I see in Black Ops anyway.

Now I heard they have bots too! If they turn out to be fun and if the game has two, preferably four player splitscreen in the 360 version I might just get this some day when the price drops a bit.

I agree that the series replaced Counter Strike.

But I liked CS:S a lot more than I did CoD 4/MW2 MP.

At least the game required some skill and some tactics.

CS:S Is alot more fun that MW. MW2 is pretty ****ed on the PS3 with it over-heating the blu-ray drive due to excessive reading.
They ruin everything. Wasteland was one of the only maps I got to play on CoD2 online since I came so late, and it was simply great.
Now I go on Mw2 and play it, and all I have is my team raging at me for trying to flank. They just sit underground on the barrels, for some reason placed in the CORNER, while people launch grenades in there.

This customization is simply ridiculous. Thats what happens when you mix a war game and a barbie game. :(

Yes, dislike my posts because I'm going to buy the game!
I went ahead and "liked" your post. Why? Because I am somewhat looking forward to this too. I loved MW1's MP, enjoyed WaW's MP until my saves all got corrupted. MW2 left the worst taste in my mouth, so BO looks to redeem the series at least as far as MP goes for the more modern titles.

Granted, I'm not sure how much my perception of the games is skewed seeing as I have gotten all of them since MW1 for free. Perhaps it'd be different if I have to pay for them, I may be more leery of BO than I am.

You get them for free? And you always seem to have screens from the latest games right near release...are those also free? If so, may I ask how?

From 1:00 to 1:03 it looks like he been using an aimbot.

Oh, sorry i forgot. It's console game. There is no aimbot, but players aim feedback  All spray and prey.

Overall, it looks like they don't have any ideas what to do with that game. It's same engine which been used in CoD4 or even older with customizable stuff, but cause its selling well they do all time same game.

Can't wait for RO:HoS, when :IS2: smash all those console arcade shooters into ground on PC.

Obviously there won't be any aim assist in the PC version

Problem is that most people here can not differ between apples and pears.

I'm not buying this game because I want a pink horse stamp on my assault rifle, but because I've had much fun with MW1 and WaW. It's kinda addictive and fun to play inbetween. Plus I'm getting it cheaper

Unfortunately that is not true.
There is no "snap and stay on" aim assist in the PC version, but the hit boxes are so large that you can shoot 30cm to the left of someone's head and you'll still hit him.

There is enough video evidence for this.
