We Germans ain't prude like the Americans in regard to naked people but if there is violence or even blood and/or forbidden symbols like the swastika in a game it's a no go and vice versa. Is not really intelligible that swastikas are not forbidden in movies because of their status as cultural assets. Games are also cultural assets!

It is a hopeless circumstance here in Germany... I am annoyed for years now and don't think that there will change anything. As long as I get my uncut copies from outer Germany I gonna handle this but if it won't work anymore maybe because of blocked keys or something like that...ah never wanna imagine that.

To bad for me, that I am to late for the unmarked version :(

Well there is a piece of hope for the future. Steam said a few months ago that they are working for on a age verification system that will technically allow developers and publishers to sell uncensored versions over steam to german customers.

Right now the situation as always sucks for us germans.

The whole discussion is ****ing ridiculous, Germany states everyday how free and democratic they are and how bad countries like the People's Republic of China are and their dictatorship and how they opress people.
I'm an adult person by law but it seems I'm not, I'm a minor child taken by the hand.

I am a German, living in China, work-related. You are partly right when it comes to certain censorship and how the media in Germany report about China. However, Germany's censorship is low level compared on what's going on in China. On the other hand, western media are often bringing far too exaggerated and often simply false info when it comes to reporting about China.

Seems like my first post didn't come through. Try again:

Please add me to your steam friends. My account name is: Bocholter

We can figure out a way of me gifting you the game and you transfer money to me, or gift me back another game.

Cheers,

Sensemann

A word to tripwire and a german version of RO2:

Mark the shop page on steam for germans that they recieve a "low violence" version of the game. At the moment there is none and also in the buying process nothing show that you recieve another version as a german customer ... but in the account history it shows up as DE-version!

So if you and Valve don't want tons of angry customers change that info qucikly!

Good point, I believe they did this now.

It looks like Australia is getting the low violence version as well, at least until TWI hear back from the OFLC (apparently they haven't rated it yet so there is still hope).

However what I want to know is in the event of it getting cut here if I order an uncensored boxed version from the UK (which will save me $10 as well lol) will it remain uncut after I install it and integrate it with Steam? Or will it detect that I am Australian and just cut the game automatically.

You've received a gift copy of the game Red Orchestra 2 - Digital Deluxe Edition (ROW preorder) on Steam

Is what I have in my e-mail. I guess I should be set. Worked with Killing Floor and the Orange Box too, but I was not sure if I had the Digital Deluxe edition. I checked TF2 and have the items there, so it should all work out, I guess.
Bingo. You're good to go - "ROW" license, so USK/BPJm/Other German Bureaucrats can't get at you - or us :)

And the German government just lost out on the tax revenue too. Call it a minor protest :)

Thanks for confirming it. Too bad I lost on the 20% discount, because the guy gifting it to me had none of it. But that is the price I pay to fight censorship. :D

My preorder, gifted to me from outside of Germany, was confirmed to be uncut, unless I am terrible at interpreting Wilsons message.

I want to do the same thing, but will we get the badge when our "gifter" does not have RO1 but we have it?
When this question is cleared I will buy :)

This is not 100% guarantee that your game will uncut.

My versions of L4D, L4D2, MW2 and Killing Floor beg to differ. ;) What reason do you see that it might not be uncut?

Edit: As a reply to the IP Statement. The cut/uncut versions are measured on the serial numbers as far as I know. My uncut games haven't been turned into cut versions ever and imported games are basically the same as registering a foreign serial, which both works.

Actually all RO:O games are censored now, even those who were bought outside of Germany, when you launch the game from a German IP. Is this a definite exception since it does not happen with KF?

This happened for Red Orchestra 1 because of a system change in Steam. TWI weren't involved or prepared for it, as far as I have heard.

What I am now interested in...what happens if Rising Storm goes payed mod? Will it be DLC or will I have to jump through the gifting hoop again to get that version of the game uncut, too?
