I want to purchase a ba-64 in real life. I did some research on google, and I could not find anyone selling one, or even a price range:mad:

Anyone have any ideas?

thanks

Choosing idiot as his log in name, asking where to get a ba-64 in the red orchestra forums of all places with his first post, i'm wagering this guy is doing this as some sort of joke:rolleyes:.

I remember there was an article on the one from Kubinka, but it was in Russian. I doubt there's many left. Even if you did find one, it would be very expensive.

You'd be better off with a Jeep Willys, there's still a bunch of them around, not too expensive, and a few companies that still make repro parts for them, along with plenty of manuals.

I always thought reproduction tanks would be badass, but it's pretty unrealistic that it would ever happen.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to ask a friend in the military what they do with old surplus crap. I'm getting one even if I have to jack it from a museum.

I'm not joking around. Owning a clown car in real life would be the equivalent of owning a corvette. Imagine seeing an armored vehicle while waiting at a stop light, you would be like "that was a stylish piece of military right there".

I'm going to look more into this. You may all laugh now, but when I have one I won't let any of you ride it.

Side note: My name is Idiot because I think its funny. I play mostly on the TWB old glory server since I get decent ping there.

Thanks again

You realize a BA-64 would most likely not be street legal. And modifying it to become street legal would compromise the historical aspect of it.

Depends on where you are, really. You can register Ferrets, Saladins, Saracens, etc., in a lot of places as street legal. There was one Saracen (I think - 6 wheels, right?) with the breechblock in that 3" gun welded, and a propane rig set up in the turret, to make the gun go boom. It was registered and titled as an on-road vehicle in Texas. :D

Even so, you'll still need blinkers and such. Varies from state to state in the US, so I don't' know what's exactly needed.

You don't need turn signals or seatbelts if it is antique. It would be perfectly street legal. However, its limited top speed would limit where it could be driven.

The problem is that the russkies pretty much trashed all of them, so there are only a few BA64s left. Probably be a lot of fabrication to rebuild one to driving condition.

Check out this guy's restoration on a Universal Carrier, I've bought some truck parts for him in my own military vehicle restorations:

Hand Signals are permitted if you can't use blinkers I think (may vary by state/region).. however making hand signals might be hard from the drivers position of the BA.. (might be easier to yell at your commander and have him do it)..

Owning something like a UC or Ferret would be something on my list to do when I get enough money or free time.. :]

I'm pretty sure a friend of mine just sold his ferret. He is getting a Humber from the UK to replace it, however.

Didn't know you could classify a car as an antique and get around all of that. That's pretty cool actually.

My dream car is an M3 Scout Car, but those are getting rare, but there are a few companies that make repro parts for them.
