Sorry but brick walls DO stop pistol bullets.

Here's some facts for you;

With lead cored bullets the 9x19mm & 7.62x25mm both penetrate about 4-5 cm of brick. Not bad eh ? Well it just so happens that std. european brick is 12 cm thick, and that's just ONE layer, most buildings feature two layers with insulation in between. There's no way in **** that a pistol round will go through such a wall, at any range. Heck even with steel core ammunition pistol rounds only manage to penetrate about 10 cm of brick at best.

As for assault rifles, they will readily penetrate a layer of brick, and even two layers if firing steel cored ammunition (which the MkB does btw).

If any of you are ever close to where I live. We can take my cheap *** ppsh semi clone and go blow up cinder blocks with 7.62x25mm . Most construction even in the 40's cannot take repeated hammering of even small rounds like the 7.62x25mm. There is a reason why the Grain Elevator was important, because it had thick reinforced concrete walls for grain storage. All other construction was medicore for cover in a sustained firefight. Nothing better on apartments taking guys out from interior walls.

I'll tell you what, go out and make a two layered brick wall using std. european solid brick (means without the air pocket holes common on US bricks), like below:

Then take your PPSh clone and let'em rip on the wall, and don't forget to turn on the video camera and post on your recordings on youtube.

My guess is that it's going to take you some time and quite a few bullets before you manage to get through that... by which time any enemy behind that wall will probably have snug away or peaked out some window to shoot you a couple of times first.

um..

no.

Away from what you call reality, its just a decay of proper gameplay. I don't know if you still get it but their is just one reality and its a pipe dream to argue such design with the fact that the mauser IS or the 30-06 springfield might be able to penetrate brick walls in real life. I bet their wasn't anyone in WW2 who really thought to be successful shooting at people behind solid walls with small arms except a panzerbuchse or sth. Just because they wouldn't be. But this actually happens in HoS so where's your reality club, mate?

Someone needs to check their knowledge of fire tactics.

While on the topic of penetration, would a calibre that does not fragment as much (eg .44mag) be better or worse off when it comes to penetration?

caliber has nothing to do with how well a bullet frags or does not frag. That is completely up to the manufacturing process of the bullet itself. I can make you rounds with a .44mag that will shatter on impact, pancake on impact, make pinholes going in and fistholes going out, ones that pinhole all the way through. How well a bullet does is determined by it's shape and the materials it is constructed out of.

so long as you can get a bullet to get out of the barrel and motor @ around 1200fps if it's armor piercing it's going to penetrate something within 100yrds.

One of the reasons why the police hate the mini-14. or any semi-auto/bolt rifle that fires the .223 round is because it's taking a little .22 in. diameter bullet and spitting it out anywhere between 2800-3200fps. Couple that with a solid brass or tungsten core bullet even a flak vest with plates is going to get penetrated.

This is all just simple physics.

There is a reason why the Grain Elevator was important, because it had thick reinforced concrete walls for grain storage.
And what i do not like at grain elevator is the fact -
Elevator foothold has a staircase in the middle that the Germans can use to cap by simply going through 2nd floor and capturing Foothold from inside the staircase. Quite a problem for the defenders untill people found out that a DPS and rifles can easly spray at the walls from outside and kill the people seamingly protected by about a foot thick concrete / brick or whatever walls that they should not penetrate (or come out with an energy not capable of fatal wounds at best). I doubt you will find any rational explanation for that.
