with all this ATI and Nvidia exclusive stuff, almost console like. So next time i build my computer i am going to install both a Nvidia and Ati card see how that runs.
it wont run with both cards

Because having smoke do that would cause the server to bog down if anyone threw more then one smoke grenade. I remember even with my 8800gt my on singleplayer it would lag when there is smoke everywhere on Batman.

This has been answered somewhere. The problem is that smoke had to be calculated serverside for it to show exactly the same for every player on server. I quess physics stuff that dosent affect gameplay can be imlemented as client side where everyone sees the effect differently

I wonder why TWI didn't put only Nvidia cards in the recommended spec, since, with the whole PhysX thing, it's recommended that you have one. It's a little misdirection, in my opinion.

Arma3 uses physx allsso and the devs confirmed no performance difference between ATI and NVIDIA.

Truly?

I wonder why they bothered to use it then.

There must be some difference, with the Nvidia cards being preferable. It's not a big thing, but it'd be nice if the recommended specs reflected this.

I think they will get some support for implementing physics for free from nvidia.

physx is a physics system, it runs on the cpu. Unfortunately (due to an idiot in the naming department) physx is also a CUDA based system that runs a physics engine on the graphics card, speeding up bake (rendering but for physics) time and allowing more complicated physics to be calculated in real time.

RO2 will have physx physics (I want to strangle that guy in the naming department already!) which will run faster on an Nvidia card (ie, a card which can run CUDA) but will run damn fast on your cpu as the physics are fairly simple anyway.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the explaination!

Yes, this was kind of what I figured. As you say, the physics are fairly simple, so the difference will be minor. This is good. But still, given a choice, a Nvidia card is preferable, maybe only by a tiny fraction, but still preferable.

Maybe the requirements should reflect this, or is the difference in this case th
