That is from the evga website. it does not give a minimum for SLI on the GTX and Ultras, I would guess 50-100 watts more... ?

like the GT.

The GT is nowhere close to the GTX and Ultra in terms of power consumption, you can't really make that comparison.

Hmm, my latest possibilty, unofrtunately had to downgrade the budget by a couple of hundred quid, but I think that thus system at least is probaly more value for money:

Almost forgot, here is the lowdown on the 8800GT from tomshardware. http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/10/29/geforce_8800_gt/index.html

The GT uses less power than the GTX, but it uses more than 105 watts for the time being. Interestingly enough, the GT is a single slot card but is still quieter than the GTX and the GTS under load.

The ATI 3000 series is about 3 weeks from its debut.

Double post for VICTORY!!

What?
When considering those results, the 105W value given by Nvidia for the total consumption of its card, seems to be credible.
The power consumption page shows total power consumption for the whole computer, not just the graphics card....

I'm not sure if the 590 Mobo's support true dual PCIe x16, the second slot might run at only 4 or 8x speeds.

Also, I really like mt LG Flatron monitor. It can be had in the States for $300. if you shop around. 2ms 3,000-1 contrast ratio.

That board is Ausus' P5N32-SLI Premium/WiFi-AP. According to the specs, it does support dual PCIe x16. Not a bad looking board. http://usa.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=1325&l1=3&l2=11&l3=337&l4=0
