Played some more, feels more balanced now. Only small issue I have is that A and B are too easy now. Perhaps a little more difficulty (not too much) on A and B and a little easier D and E would be nicer in my opinion. :)

Played a few more round the past days, the map is very good (cant compare it to the final version of Harley's yet).

2 of the rounds I played however were with lockdown enabled which is totally pointless in maps like this.... Seriously server admins??

This is now my favorite map, congratulations to the maker. :) I love playing both sides, it's fantastic.

I know you guys are gonna kill me, but I still haven't seen the Russians win a single round, even after the update. Even with all those tickets, they still seem to run out all the time.

But perhaps they need some more time to learn the map, I guess...

I've immediately jumped to winning about 50% of the time on attack, so unless teams are skewed when I play, seems to be a lot more even.

That said, I probably need to find better servers - I'm often only guy throwing smoke and/or switching to engineer to clear tank traps... very lazy players most of the time, but what the hell, I'm enjoying it ;)

I noticed the generalized laziness lately too.

There was this match some other day, the map was Red October Factory and we went the whole first round without blowing up a single objective... off course we couldn't make not even to the first cap.

So I changed to engineer and destroyed that door on the left flank and all of a sudden we started to move up and cap the first point, then the next and the next.

Sometimes all it takes is someone to play the role.

Could not agree more. Playing kessel or even racowice without engineer is a lost cause most times. Rather than complain there is no engineer, experienced players should just step up.

I tried to get the herd of newbies moving yesterday but got greeted with "stfu" and the usual beginners banter...when the tank commander asked how to switch to HE shells 15 minutes into the round i knew it was time to change sides and end this sharade quickly. :D

Still i think people will learn how to play Ro and this map..and all the others.
Yea I know what you mean. These little pricks start freaking out when their commander/squad leader tries to actually IDK Give them an Order? Then they whine till the cows come home when they keep getting mowed down one by one......

While I tend to agree, I wonder how much of the feel / play of the map is affected by the change in the players. Before a map goes official, only the players willing to either download and install the map, or willing to wait for a server redirect download will ever play it. Those players are likely minority of the RO2 player base, and probably a more dedicated set.

Additionally, people getting the custom maps usually come in as a trickle, and can "learn the ropes" from the map vets, who are the majority of the players on a given server.

Once the map is official, everybody has access to it all at once. Their play style likely differs from the more dedicated set, and the lack of "trickling in" doesn't allow them to learn it from a majority of seasoned players.


I guess if TWI released a custom map with no changes, we could see if it played differently or not. As always, it's probably a combination of both.
Perhaps that is why we lose interest in "official" maps so quickly. They tend to be geared more for a generic player set? Granted there are/were some epic official maps in RO1 but I've found most of the RO2 maps (in general) to be less intense). I think most custom mappers try to bring a unique experience and challenge to their maps. Everyone that sticks with the game (or a map) will become "vets" at some point so I don't see the problem with having challenging maps. Evil Hobo's original Kreigstadt map (not the DH version) comes to mind. The last objective took almost complete co-ordination by the Russians to win. But it was so rewarding when accomplished.

But then people seem to enjoy the matchbook size maps and repeating play style of S&D in CoD. So what do I know? Then, too, there are the whining threads of teamstacking (aka biased maps).

I guess my point is similar to Mr. Moe's. Aside from bug fixes and minor tweaks, to date, I have preferred the mapper's final versions.

Your remark is good. It's work also with respawn on SL.
Everything need experience and art. even respawn on SL, even saper. Panzer too.

I have no consideration for someone who doesn't use well respawn on SL (either as soldiers or either as SL). As i have no consideration for a player who take a saper only to have the weapon. "Not doing is job" is the sure way to see difference betwen good players to bads players.

In another side, a saper killing 2 enemy Tanks who are close in same time absolutely fascinates me ! It's an artist ! (my opinion)
What is fascinates me ? it's the way of playing of players who make impossible possible. (and they change the face of the battle by this facts of this kind!).

You know already it, you can have someone who take saper and failed.
You can have a team who blow the door in Kessel and who failed.

I think even without saper, Rakowice or Stalingradkessel can be winned. It will be difficult. (more difficult). But with few "players-artists", it's possible.

played a couple of rounds last night. it was pretty fun, although i have noticed that the bridges are now a nightmare to cap.

Played yesterday the map as attackers and... well I love the map design and everything. But a couple of halftracks/carriers wouldn't hurt :p my team didn't even manage to capture D and E because it's pretty much killzone everywhere + when we finally almost got the point capped enemy arty hammered us back to the other side of the river.

Perhaps we didn't flank enough and sought too much cover from the bridge.


Usually after C the tank just kills the silly beans running around the middle of the map. These are usually newer players taking the fast way.....to death. IF the tank gets into the middle of infantry attacking either D or E smartly letting HIS infantry be around him ....it seems to help. Just have to be careful to NOT run over your guys. And to get close but NOT to close to the obj. Hopefully your infantry will cover you from the running guys with at grenades. When done right the tank comes out with fewer kills BUT the objectives A threw E fall fast.

Also Vehicles like a bren gun carrier would have next to NO effect on this map. Although that t70 seems a natural. replace the one t34 with 1 or 2 of them? Na leave it as is.! Well actually the t70 maybe perfect....

LOL. T70 hater. :D But seems natural that a questionable 2 person light tank instead of a t34 for a map where the Germans have no armor. I like the older version of this map better...IE from the maker. BUT I have to say that TW DID improve it for the masses. For better or worse.

As for spawn on vehicle? Why it is still a smallish map. Would need to be a bit bigger. Well for TE. It IS a decent sized length wise but not width. :eek:
