It shows alot of potential that it could work, I'd just be a little reserved to how it can't be overpowered given the large clip and old SCAR damage. On paper it sounds beastly :)

Well I dunno about mag size but for a level 6, it should at least be higher than 37 rounds. It could probably be on par with the bullpup, ranging 40-50 with greater firepower. :IS2: And of course, a reduction in speed in both movement, firing and "aiming."

I thought actually that it should be faster an with bigger recoil

Nah, there's more recoil to be had from just one round. Look at the shotguns and LAR, or M14 for a starter. They're all single shot weapons, and they have pretty noticeable recoil (probably not the LAR, but hayho)

But I mean bigger recoil than bullpup.

Ironically its recoil would actually be quite low due to the fact its prettyheavy, however you might find that actually aiming is bloody hard. Since anyone using a gaming mouse can change their DPI anyitme they with reducing aim speed would be useless.

However a good compromise might be having the gun sway a little during sustained fire, meaning you have to keep fighting with it to keep it on line. Kinda like a sideways recoil :)

Yes! That's perfect!

If I remember correctly, sustained fire with the AK-47 can make you change direction to the right a little tiny bit, is that right?

It does, they added it to make it more like a real AK that recoils to the right on sustained fire.

I agree, awesome idea to help balance the gun further.

Makes the British gun-huggers finally shut up
Makes the LMG-huggers finally shut up.

Well of course the Bren is a pretty nice LMG. But why should this kind of weapon go to the commando Instead of the support specialist? Sure he already has the AA-12 and the extra grenades. But the type of weapon that it is already hints of support specialist.

If this weapon is given to the Commando, it would ironically make him into the Gunslinger perk that people wanted so much in the sense that he would be able to do everything as the other perks can, but not to the extent of the fully dedicated perks of that class as the gunslingers idea was based upon.

He can already fight at short, medium, and long ranges with the bullpup, ak47, and scar. But taking out heavy specimens or large mobs of them at once he starts to have some difficulty- Untill you would give him the Bren gun. he would be able to do those things too but not to the extent of a firebug or a support can.

Although I am not quite sure of how it would be like in-game. But I am rather very curious and unsure of it. For now, I will not vote either way untill I give it more thought.

Which class is supposed to use the big guns? Is that class supposed to be able to choose engagement type and range? How does this work with other class weapons?

This weapon and the difficulties classifying it make me think that the classes in this game need to be redesigned completely.

I'd say that the gameplay provided for it needs testing, then a vote to decide on its actual class. Tbh, I don't see why the Support Spec has the AA12 when his playstyle until recently, wasn't anything like using a fully-auto weapon that mows downs huge mobs like that. That was more of a commando/firebug thing.

I think everyone is getting too worried about the Bren's power versus large targets. Let's remember that even though this gun will have old-Scar's power, it will also have a slower fire rate. This means that there's no way you're going to take down a Scrake solo without it reaching you during rage-state. This means that the FP will also not go down quickly enough.

Let's wait until there's a testable prototype before we forsake this idea just on the idle WORRY that Commando might be able to fight Scrake/FP's with this.

But who's gonna do it? Oh yeah, modders don't normally read suggestion threads. :p

I might do it at some point, but I dunno.

Just a question: Why is one of the good points that it's British? Why's that so important? If all you want is more Britishness, then why not just give players tea and crumpets? The AK, katana, Desert Eagle, Benelli(ish) shotgun, SCAR, LAW, Beretta, Winchester, Mac 10, EBR, M79, H&K-based medic gun, and M32 aren't British (having origins in the US for the most part, with the Desert Eagle being Israeli, the katana of Japanese origin, the shotgun and Beretta being Italian the AK being of Russian origin and the M32 being South African), and the crossbow, machete, knife, ax, chainsaw, double-barrel, flame thrower, grenade and pipe bomb not possibly, but not necessarily British (as in Britain has chain saws, but it's not British in identity). The bullpup is really the only weapon that is definitely a British design. A weapon's nationality shouldn't matter, especially since countries adopt plenty of weapons that they are imported.

That is exactly why it's (somewhat) important that any additional guns added be British. Being in Britain, one would expect to find British weapons, yet KF largely disappoints in that regard.

Yes, one would also find American weapons, Mac10's, Desert Eagles, and AK's, as these are endemic everywhere. But just like you'd expect more Italian weapons in Italy, you'd expect more British weapons in Britain,

This ^

Britain has highly iconic weapons like the Bren, Sterling and Enfield rifle variants, and I'm suprised they're not used at all!

I personally think that this would be too foreign to any perk BUT Commando. It's a fully auto non-pellet hitscan gun (that doesn't incinerate or heal things), it's obviously a Commando weapon.

*Bump*

Bumping this because it's one of the few good LMG posts i've seen and maybe bumping it will prevent nubs form posting another LMG thread (There's been 2 in one night, omg).

I love the idea of having it semi-deployed, that's how I programmed my LMG's in a mod I worked on.
