This is a very realistic, high-quality and immersive game. The official box shows the opposite. It shows that this is a crappy budget title that is about run-and-gun, no tactics, lame kills and no players online. It shows that the game was made quickly and shabby. I am an expert at graphic design on video game covers (it's my job.) and I will tell you that this will literally DRIVE PEOPLE AWAY from world war II shooters in general. It looks cheap and overall terrible. If you want to convey the message of realism, use real photos and photoshop like the darker cover in the poll and Felix's excellent cover. What are you thinking? A painted/drawn picture to convey realism? Also the stance of the soldiers on the bottom of the cover looks terrible, making seem like run-and-gun and frankly a poor alternative to CoD2 or DOD:S.

The 2nd box art in the poll is far superior to the 1st one.....the 1st one looks cheap and half-azzed...sorry, just my opinion for whomever came up with that one......the second one looks very appealing and screams "BUY ME!"........ =)

I don't think it makes any difference tbh guys. As far as I know, the box art is probably the publisher's decision, not the devs, so nothing posted here is going to make one iota of difference. Sure, we've established that the official art sucks, but I think we're wasting our keystrokes.
The fact is that maybe the second one looks much better and more serious would only be good for players that already know the game,
for anyone that is in the store just looking around to see what new games are available to buy, the oficial one gives a much better Idea of what is it, In a store you'll see a lot of colorfull boxes, If you put a black box in the middle of them, you just wont see it if you are not looking for it

It looks like a budget game like Tactical Ops, or Marine Sniper, what with the cartoony illustrating.
Besides, from any kind of aesthetic standpoint, as has been pointed out, that box cover is just messed up. The top and bottom halves don't compliment each other, but neither do they effectively contrast, so you get a dead-end cover.
Both of the other box cover concepts convery seriousness, and evoke a dark, sullen mood, which is exactly what you want for a game about realistic, brutal infantry combat in history's worst theater of war.
I think the red cover is the best of all. It shows both sides engaged in combat, without overtly glorifying one or the other, while also having a uniform color theme, and it is much more symetrical. All of these things are appealing to the eye. But the Bold cover does everything in it's power to make itself un-appealing, in my opinion.
Ive studied marketing once, the first thing is to make people see it, I dont like the box either, but human eye goes first to the bright colors
If it was my game and I could decide, then I would made a cover like that black one, or at least an screenshot of the game, just to make something that reflects the game better making something good for the fans. but they have chosen the other path and made something easier to see in the store and catch the casual customers, both things are good from diferent POVs

IMHO, the first box gets attention of people due to its bright colors, while dark, plain second box can be skipped over due to being mistaken for some strategy game because cover just doesn
what I meant is that the cover is designed to atract people that is not searching for the game, If you are already searching for it you'll buy it anyway, all the pro-gamers will know about it and finally they will all buy it.
About the soviet thing in the cover, I think its really good, there are a lot of people that are communist or are atracted by it in some way, most of them will surely buy this game just for that, and the people that find it agressive, they already got the atention of it, so they'll surely take a look at the back of the box, and they will find out that they can play with Axis too so, they'll say, ok lets kill communists

the bright colours may attract attention but attention doesn't always mean they will buy it. It may catch their eyes but dark coloured boxes can sell more then bright or else every box in the store will be yellow! Its just the layout and design of the pictures on the front that are bugging some.
