Bouting should always be used when in a hostile inviorment.

Bouting can be done when your with a buddy or more. So 2 or more player in other words.

One man stays put, either kneeling or prone and watches, with sights up, for threats while the other man sprints about 15 yards ahead to cover and then the process is repeated in bouts. Hence the name.

If its a team of say 4 or 5 then you'd split in to two elements and do it exactly the same way.

Bouting is better than simply moving around the map normally becuase if you ever come under attack, you ALWAYS have your teammates already laying down supressive fire at the enemy even when your still moving becuase there is always a buddy for you kneeling down and ready to open fire.

It should become second nature for all organised teams and clans.

Is "bounding", comrades; "bounding" overwatch! Also something no nice man will do in presence of mother, wife, sister, or other females .. maybe not even females goats. ;)

But, you're quite right: bounding or leapfrogging is a tactically correct way to conduct an advance when you believe the enemy can see you directly.
