Hey guys first post, but I've been viewing the forums and played RO1 so I know a decent amount. My question, is that will their be multiple rifle for the Soviets in RO:HOS. Back in RO:Ostfront the Russians got the M9130, and two others(that I can't remember their names), with minimal changes in accuracy, but one always had a bayonet and the other had no option to fix a bayonet. I know that with the new unlock system it may upset balance because AFAIK the only bolt action the Germans used was the K98. I liked alternating between them, despite the very minor differences, and so, will they be in this game?

Second small question: Regardless of whether or not the bayonet always rifle for the soviets is in, will we have to fix the bayonet or will it come spawned on when you use it. I kinda liked fixing it, immersion I guess:D

It should be the way it was in OST, you fix it ;). And for the other rifles like in OST where you had the choice between the 3, 2 were smallers! THAT will help in CQB now, with the new collision system! :D

Well by the looks of things the game will ship with the 91/30 as the only soviet bolt action battle rifle. The one with the bayonet permanently attached, the M44 wasnt in use in stalingrad. However the M38, the carbine which you cant attach a bayonet to was in use in stalingrad and would be quite handy for use in tight quarters especially with collision for hand weapons.
Unfortunately however, Tripwire in all their wisdom have decided not to ship with some of the more common weapons such as the M38 and instead have super rare weapons instead(sigh).

We have yet to see bayonets being placed on rifles/off rifles by hand so I would say it is a safe enough assumption to say that one spawns with them on or off like CoD WaW (sigh again).

Well to be fair, we haven't seen video of much of anything yet. Something they're working on right now. But I'd guess we will still have the ability to attach or take off bayos. It was possible in RO1 and I don't see why they would not include it this time around. It was really kool, great animation no doubt.

We have see footage (make you happier?) of people spawning with bayonets attached, which would lead me to assume that tripwire hasnt made an attach/detach animation. I gree though that it was a pretty cool feature.

For OST TW always said it was relatively easy to added new weapons so I hope after the fist big content update(ie new tanks and transport) they come out with another one with a few more maps and the "missing" rifles.

Second small question: Regardless of whether or not the bayonet always rifle for the soviets is in, will we have to fix the bayonet or will it come spawned on when you use it. I kinda liked fixing it, immersion I guess:D
From the looks of it you get the bayo if you pre-order and i would think you would attach it yourself.

I think you have to fix the bayonet manually on.
Because the RO:Ostfront handbook from the retail version says, that the bayonet reduces the accuracy of your weapon.

There were 3 kinds of Mosins in RO:OST. The most common was the Mosin Nagant 1891/30 long rifle with possible bayonet attachment. The second was the Mosin Nagant M38 carbine that had no bayonet attachment. The final was the Mosin Nagant M44 carbine with the permanently fixed bayonet, however the real M44 bayonet can be folded when not in use. The 1891/30 and the M38 both existed at the beginning of WWII. The M44 was not fielded until 1944 (hence the name) so it should not appear in RO2 sadly. I can only hope the M38 makes a return

I hope multiple bolt action rifles make a return. I preferred to used the shorter rifles in Danzig, not sure if it made any difference just felt like it did.

Why would that be a safe assumption? Because you want to find something to complain about? It seems to me the opposite is actually true. When in doubt, assume TWI will choose the more realistic and immersive option, as they have done for just about every other decision they have made.

I hope those two rifles do make a return. While I mostly used the m1891/30, the fact that the other two were included was a nice detail.

Not sure if this is already in, but will there be an option to remove the front sight hood on the K98? I know its a small thing, but it'd be good to have the option.

Maybe if you could only remove it and never put it back on. Those things are impossible!

I'm pretty confident the (un)fixing of bayonets is still in. Considering it was about the coolest thing in the original game, maybe apart from working bolt action rifles.
