This is a question slash suggestion, but a customization at the same time.. so move this thread where you think it might be best moved.

I have yet to play Ostfront, but was wondering how the objectives blinking on the map when they are under attack affects the gameplay. I would imagine in competitive play that you would want this feature turned off. How easy/hard would it be to make a small modification (for the server-side) that would remove this feature? and how would one go about doing it? is there specific software to create small server-side mods?

ohh, I've been playing for a couple years, and the cool part about the mod was not being able to see when someone is capping... not seeing a cap in progress actually lengthened the matches because of objectives changing hands more often. But now, even though I havent played with it yet, it would seem way easier to win a map when you can see what is in the process of being capped. I personally am looking at the objective map constantly during a round... so being able to see what is under attack is, in my opinion, too much info. It makes the game a lot easier.

Like for example, on Kauk, when the Axis have all the objectives EXCEPT the Courtyard capped, the Russians can sneak down into the Back Route and recap without the Axis knowing... making the map last longer, and forcing the Axis to work harder/together to take the whole map... But with flashing objectives, it's alot easier for the Axis to allocate forces to the Back Route and stop that re-cap, making it easier to win. This is just one example of one mod map, but I'm sure it translates to Ostfront as well.

So what I was thinking, specifically for competition (RO:Ladder, BFE, TWL etc.) in addition to a black death screen, someone could come up with a small mod to remove the flashing objective feature. I wouldnt imagine it could be that difficult, but I've never built a mod so I dont know what is involved.... Hell, a dev with some free time could prob throw this together lickety-split

Dev.. free time ..is that an oxymoron? :D
