So, after constantly reading on how RO1 was better in pretty much every aspect I went back after 100 hours of RO2.

I suggest you do the same before proceeding to read the rest of my post.

While I don't pretend to know how RO1 compares to RO2, I have said many times before that the lenses of nostalgia are often rose colored.

Were I you, though, I'd throw on some flame retardant underwear. I imagine it's gonna get pretty toasty around this thread.

Couldn't agree more, every second post on these forums is about how awesome the original game was and why RO2 should be more like it, seriously tiresome. Quit whinging, if you don't like the way RO has gone, move on...no amount of whinging is going to make this game turn back to RO1 with prettier graphics, games evolve and change....let it go.

Well of course Red Ochestra 1 is technically way worse...but behind that the gameplay was really really intense.

I dont think anybody liked the fact that you moved as if you were 80 years old ... and that was the stuff they had to change:

Being able to move quickly so the game gets more dynamical and improving graphics, sound etc... nothing more.

To some extend Tripwire achieved that...but not completely (yet).

Well i am playing both games - tbh i've never stopped to play RO.
So there is no place for nostalgia, you know.

And i still think that Ostfront, AS GAMEPLAY, is a lot better.

Of course RO2 looks better and it's technically superior (bugs apart).
Nobody questioned that.

>plays terribly.

Or you don't like the genre or you are trolling.

Yes because having an opinion that differs from yours means he's trolling -_-......here's a bombshell....I reckon RO2 is terrific....I love the gameplay...hard to believe there are people that like the game right?

In Unreal
RO2 plays fine for me, movement is more fluid, more sprint like you'd have in real life, over all just better than the clumsy lonewolf gameplay RO1.

It's perfectly fine if he likes those fast paced arcade-like games, if he likes running at full speed even on a ground of broken bricks etc. Some people liked red orchestra: ostfront, and some liked call of duty, battlefield etc. or red orchestra 2.

Some games simply aren't for everyone.

But i doubt roost is ugly, even the graphics weren't bad in my opion, it just required a little bit more of your concentration and skill than ro2 does, so if he wants a relaxed fragging section with ww2 theme I can see OP's reasons, and can recommend ro2 or some other titles...

I just went back and played some ostfront, and you're completely right.. First map I played.... Danzig.. man danzig looks so much better than apartments :( I wish they remade danzig instead of making tiny apartments.. apartments feels so small compared to danzig. But yeah I agree with everything you wrote.. I loved RO1 back then but I love RO2 now.. You seem like a sensible person, someone I would wanna play with. Wanna add me on steam and play together sometime? Steam name is Qweets

Good write up I enjoyed it, thanks man. Glad you enjoy RO2 as much as I do

Speed is an issue in ROOST for sure but I did like that if I got shot in the leg it slowed me down a LOT, I miss that in RO2. I also miss guns getting shot out of hands. I sniped a guys sniper rifle out of his hand and it flew out the window he was in.. so epic. Even now the graphics cranked up to highest in ROOST the game doesn't look terrible. Just doesn't look good as ro2.

I do think they need to add those injury modifiers back into the game for leg shots etc it makes for a more realistic feel overall. But RO1 in general is so slow with EVERYTHING, walking is like your 90 years old. running is like your 70 years old lol.

Not to mention you can jump up from prone to crouch sprint, i love that in ro2.

The time it takes to go into ironsights in RO1 might be a bit long.. but in RO2 its definitely way too fast, it's like less than a second in ro2 which I think may need to be toned down.

Overall I think RO2 is heading in the right direction, they will keep adding more and more stuff to the game its just how TWI is they are cool like that and we'll get it all for free. Loving the game, can't wait to see some community maps start showing up in rotations and being popular and awesome.

i never played ostfront before RO2
infact i have yet to play RO2 due to the splash screen bug
but one of my friends old vac banned account had ostfront so i asked if i could get on it and try out ostfront while i wait for tripwire to fix my current gamebreaking bug.
he said yes and i promptly started installing it.
i played about 30 minutes then quit because its just....ugh.
i dont know exactly what it was but it felt very clunky.

I wish they'd take themselves back to RO1 and leave the forums in peace, but of course they don't want to do that, nope they just want to whine because everything isn't going their way :rolleyes:

Hm, whilst the OP is far too harsh I am somewhat tempted to one up his post just because people are down voting it and saying its a bad post just because its his opinion. Urgh, its lazy that people cant be even arsed to tell him why he is "wrong" and would rather press a button to state how they feel, which is far more dumbed down than RO2 will ever be...

There's a massive difference between

"Here's what I think, X is Y but Z really isn't that great"
and
"X is Y, Z is great obviously. What are you thinking?!"

Not that this is the first "My opinion is fact" thread in this section.
