Okay now when I start the editor I get the tool bar off to the side,but where the viewports of like the 2d side, front and 3d dont show up. I get a blank white screen. Blah. any help?

It's a very common problem. You have to go to View > Configure Viewports... then select the configuration you want to use, I suggest the first one.
