I think this is sort of a Treyarch, Infinity Ward level of confusion. Different teams under the same publisher, working on the same IP. Which would explain why Bioshock fell so short of the mark.

So they ragged on objectivism in the first one, then they ragged on collectivism in the second... what's left? moderation?

Splicers are going to come running out screaming "EVERYTHING MUST BE PERFECTLY EQUAL!"

The video got me interested, more than the announcement. But I liked BS 1.

But man oh man, does it look scripted. BS was too, but not quite to that degree.

That was made extra scripted for the gameplay vid, the real game won't be that heavily scripted(devs said that, and if you watch the vid its kinda obvious)

Even on the hardest difficulty the original Bioshock was stupidly easy. The only thing that kept me playing was the setting was really interesting. I hope this time around they have some decent gameplay.

Now here is where the fundamental flaw in that vid lies for me.
The overall gun handling and gameplay can be described "medicore" at best, what makes people like it is the extreme scripting. And it's quite obvious that the finished game won't be that heavily scripted. So this leaves me with the feeling of "meh", the only thing that makes the vid look good probably won't be seen in the game except in cutscenes and a few scripted events that you can't influence.

You kinda contradict yourself. If that trailer doesn't show the real gameplay experience because it's so scripted, how can you already know it's going to be mediocre? And what kind of gun handling do you expect? You want to manually bolt that sniper rifle or what?

Also personally what I thought was cool about it wasn't so much the scripted because I took it for obvious that it won't be like that in the real game, but the art style, love to detail, gliding through the "city" on those railthingies and of course the flying horse(haha).

Dunno, the sounds and weapon handling just felt weak.

Plasmids are staying. ADAM is going bye-bye, probably to be replaced by some equally ridiculous catalyst.

It makes you wonder.....if there are all these many chemicals that give you powers beyond belief that are all over the place, how come everyone else hasn't found out yet?

I mean, with the slugs, they are only in one particular area. But if they aren't the only thing, then it seems like humanity only finds it when they aren't looking for it.

Just like the idea that a 1912 America could launch a floating city. For me, Infinite is kinda pushing it with the details of the new setting. I know that I'll love the game (I loved the first 2), it's just that I am really curious how they're going to pull the plot out. I mean, it's usually been released before I start noticing these kinda things:D

By the way, my explanation about why Columbia is less believable to me than Rapture, has been included for some poor soul who for some reason wants to debate it.

Spoiler!
