Xienen, you're a pristine example of why Tripwire is a unique company within the gaming world. Thanks for volunteering your own personal time to satisfy this community.

9_6, while reading a public thread regarding proposed changes is a good thing, it isn't a forum for everyone to get their way. No matter what changes are proposed, someone will take the role of devil's advocate. I don't think it is a good idea.

While I appreciate that time has been spent to update the game, I feel that this content was somewhat deaf to the cries of the community. I think the core comes down to the perks and how they work with one another.

I personally felt the commando was fine, maybe had a few too many magazines for the SCAR. The damage change is simply a perk choice reinforcement. The devs are basically saying "big stuff isn't within your ability." Limiting perks like that simply encourage people to use the perks that CAN shoot anything.

Example: Firebug. I played Firebug a TON and enjoyed it, but I knew for a fact that anything above a bloat could potentially kill me.

What happened? Firebugs disappeared in favor of demos who can pipebomb anything large and clear out the mess of small things easily enough...or they gravitated to sharpshooter with the insane M14 and 1-shotting crossbow.

The LAW is another instance of this in a sense. Nobody used it because its power to weight ratio was terrible. I still picked it up from time to time and even had people ask me what I was firing because they'd never seen it before. Why? Because no veteran in his right mind would use it.

The Chainsaw is in this exact same boat. Who uses it? Rank 6 Berserkers that spawn with it.

In summary, I think we need to take a long hard look at what a perk can and cannot do, then make adjustments as necessary to ensure they all get played. That's my recommendation for 9_6's suggestions, but I really do think that changes shouldn't be for a public forum. Limiting it to veterans would probably have a better response than a public flame thread.

I'd love to see some balance.
and
I'd love to see some weapons have a use (I'm looking at you LAW and Saw).

Well there was bound to be one of these threads.

I couldn't be happier, personally. My (moderate) expectations were met. Considering how many things a studio of TWI's size is juggling, I got more than I anticipated. Some of the changes feel a little like bandaids, but so are many balance changes.

It's funny. After just avoiding the sludge that has been circulating around the KF forums for a few months, I don't even have the urge to be snide anymore. People that want to act like TWI has insulted them by not doing something like putting the old chainsaw back in...just need to grow up.

So thanks for the update fellas. Try not to let the vocal minority annoy you too much.

Sharpshooters now cannot carry M14 & M32 anymore.
What should they combine with M14 now? :)

Well if you wanted to combine something explosive with your M14.
M32+M14+Duct Tape=Shock And Awe.
Long range explosive weapon with 20 Grenades per shot + 140 in reserve.

Tape It Or Die.

just HAD to put in the DR2 reference.

Ontopic, I feel they did pretty well with the update. i already posted what i felt should be changed/Fixed in another thread.

They didn't have almost a year to make the update. They had almost a year to work on HoS.

Making a BALANCING update doesnt take a year, that was my point. I dont care about new content. Editing a .txt file is not so complicated, especially with all the feedback in here.

Before this update a sharpshooter with a crossbow was overpowered like a sharpshooter with a m14 but imagine a sharpshooter with a crossbow and a m14 xDDDD
You can win alone a suicidal game with 6 player...

The point of this thread is to tell you before patch sharpshooter already couldn't carry both of them so your logic is fail. Xienen stated that the point of adding additional weights is to prevent sharpshooter from carrying M14 with other varieties of weapon example M14+lever action+dual handcannon is impossible now. Also it is to prevent support specialist from carrying them both and make them a better sharpshooter.

What i don't get is how a Support could be a better sharpshooter.

You can't oneshot a FP, though a scrake is easy. The M14 has correct recoil, so it's hard to spam; the way it's usually used. It's damage and reload speed are lower which makes it a worse choice.

I fail to see how this is a better sharpshooter.

Despite of this, i use Support the way it was intended: with a Shotgun. Though i have the AA12/HS/DHC as backup in case SHTF.

Regarding the Xbow and how its huge damage wasn't reduced, i'm going to have to say TWI pulled a Blizz with this quote:

"Working As Intended"

:p

I would like more (quite a bit more) content to KF, but I'm not overly keen on giant addon explosions like the Level Up DLC.

The mini-updates like this one and Heavy Metal are the best thing ever. :IS2:

I just feel that in my perfect world, these would come out more often.

The suppressor (stop calling it a silencer doofus) doesn't have to be real. When I bought my mac11 (semiauto 9mm) it came with a dummy suppressor, for holding when firing (it didn't have a collapseable stock due to the '94 ban).
In third person it is held that way because it would kinda take some time to unlatch extend and fix the stock for low recoil firing.

Level 6 support used to be able to carry a shotgun, Xbow and M14. Now it can't. While technically, a high level support can carry both still, they'll have no perk boosted weapon and this will probably result in their death. Unless they're on a low level server, in which case it'll be easy with ANY weapon.

On the contrary, all the feedback here makes it VERY bloody complicated.

No problem with it, I understand ;)
But personnaly, i never use the LAR when i had (before the patch) ebr + handcannon + lar....because i never use all of this ammo.
Hmm now it's different, less ebr ammo ^^'
There is some challenge to do suicidal with it now :D
