I assume you meant creatures, but....that's kind of a dumb statement. You can in fact argue about imaginary creatures.

Yeah I think most of the specimens are clones.
Just like,
they tried to make super-fly cooldudes, and everything went all wrong style.
I mean it kinda went right, but then these cooldudes took off their clothes/skin and then the party got all awkward and I had to call my mom for a ride.

I wouldn't agree to this. Specimens means experiemented on. If people were experimented and they was altered, it's a specimen as they are no longer human. Yes they are all clones which goes back to the fact of, these are no way zombies.
There is nothing that can't be argued over, nothing is too trivial.
Now actually arguing over things worth arguing over...well that's just silly isn't it?
They are also called Zeds, which is shorthand for zombie. A zombie doesn't have to be a living dead creature. Going around eating people is zombie-like behavior.

Ah, wrong. There was a test team if I remember correctly which tag was ZED. They was the ones to start off the nickname and it ended up carrying on to everyone. They have always been known officially as specimens, Zed came in as a nickname long after.
Nope. This is a commment directly from [TW]Wilsonam on the Tripwire forums in 2009 which is the year the game came out:

Tripwire themselves refer to zeds as zombies. Keep in mind zed is the pronunciation of the letter Z in the UK where the game takes place. Just like how Z is used in other zombie games/movies/books such as World War Z, DayZ etc.
There may have been a test team named ZED (though I have not been able to find any reference to that), but Zed also clearly refers to zombies.
Is it not illegal to refer to general baddies in games like these as zombies? Hell, even I refer to the infected in L4D as zombies just because it's practical.
Plus the only reason they said zombie there was because saying "shouts and laughter as people watch a suitably hilarious zed death" sounds....off.

Unless they are making an open-mouthed and close-mouthed variant for every specimen I sincerely doubt it.

Really, at this point, there's not really any point to the zombie debate, unless you can find a quote from the mod creator saying "no, they are not zombies". Enough people involved with the mod and retail version use the term so it sticks. It doesn't matter that they aren't living dead or fit the traditional definition. All we're doing now is playing semantics and splitting hairs.

Well to some people (like myself) words have not only a meaning, but a strong physical and visual connotation with them. This is why on some level it seriously bothers me when someone calls a magazine a clip or an assault rifle a machinegun. And it's the same thing in this case. I won't really ask people to change what they call them, but I can understand how it bothers people.
Yeah I understand that too. In the traditional sense of the word they don't qualify, but zombies aren't always depicted as living dead. In 28 Days Later, the virus just turned people into flesh eating maniacs, not actually living dead. So while it's considered a zombie flick, they aren't actually undead like in a traditional George Romero style. I guess it just depends on how open people are to interpretation.
