Save up?

It's not like this fall is unique in the sense that it has a lot of good games coming out. Only having enough dosh for 1 game seems a bit silly when you could see yourself wanting more.

Already blew my fall games budget. I was never planning on getting BF3, but the point still stands. You need to prioritize. I bought three big-name titles this fall (already pre-ordered and paid for); Skyrim, Saints Row: The Third, and Batman: Arkham City. I can't buy every game I want, so I needed to figure out what games I couldn't go without playing and buy those first. I snatched up RO2 with the bit of extra cash I had left over.

Sounds like OP is basically doing the same thing to me. From which of the two titles would he get the most out of his limited funds?

Seriously?

RO2
Skyrim
The new Bioshock
BF3
Batman: Arkham City
Dota 2

The list goes on

Note: BF3 doesn't interest me, and some games are as well lesser interests, however there are quite a few 'big' games coming out around this time.

sure it looks funny, but its a disgusting bug for a developer like DICE to have.. it would be understandable if TW got a bug like that but DICE? they are way bigger and have more tools to work with, they've also been working on the game longer if i remember correctly..

Hiya Mate...How's Harry Tate going;):D.
I haven't played any of the BF3 Beta, so can only go on what I've heard from Friends in My clan, which is 70% favorable, but some have said it's BFBC2 with better graphics and Jets, But as Apex has shown still with some Major Bugs in it, I'm having a ball with RO2 but it will take some time to get the best out of it (Set-up wise (But I'm sure You'll be used to that ;)).
Just grab a few Utube Videos of both games and go from there is My only suggestion

Get BF3 now and buy RO2 when TW or a modding team fix the gameplay if that will ever even happen. Frankly I would recommend getting RO1 over RO2. BF3 in hardcore mode will probably be equaly 'realistic' as RO2.

new batman will be awesome, and new bioshock, i was waiting for BF3 so much, because i love BF2 and i still do, but BF3 imo is horrible, and nothing compared to BF2..

sure RO2 had bugs, but none of them was this disgusting...

You do realize why they call it a beta don't you? If you think bf2 was better in any way than bf3 please tell us why cause i can't think of anything.

RO2 is getting better step by step, but I wouldn't buy it in it's current state. For those who the game works perfectly have a blast, for many others it's a mess. Wait a few months and see what the situation is then.

Right now go for BF3, the 64 player conquest games were freaking awesome. Now that the biggest problems were identified in the beta the retail version will most probably be a polished well working game.

And those who are crying about a bugged bf3, do you know what a beta test is?

You don't want to be a sheep who falls for the mainstream opinion/hype's + big game studio's main concern is making money (so it shouldn't be difficult or with a learning curve) so you get payed add-ons and no modding tools, no free new maps likely.. etc, that's enough why you should buy Ro2 and not Bf3, when making a choice.

For me, who has limited my online-FPS experience during the past few years to Poject Reality and Red Orchestra, playing the BF3-beta felt like playing one of those Japanese arcade games who "blip-blop", flash with big lamps and make loud noices every time you do something good...

If you get, for example, a knife-kill (or pretty much any kind of kill, it feels like) you will hear some music and the screen will be covered by numbers (points) and other distracting info. I skipped the Modern Warfare games that introduced this arcade-inspired stuff, so for me it's just annoying and distracting.

Just saying, if you liked the recent CoD-games you will probably like it. It's similar, but with "heavier" and (I must say) more "realistic" gameplay. Visually it's stunning, of course.
But if you, like me, skipped CoD and therefore aren't used to or don't like this new kind of "arcady" presentation and interface you might as well stay away from it.

If they release something like a Project Reality for BF3 I might buy it, though.

Okay, for those of you who like BF3 "feel" you are in for a shock, I'll repost something I did in the other BF3 thread:
One thing I did like was how lethal all of the guns were, its just that some weapons were OP but then I read this:
http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/10/th...battlefield-3/

There are major gameplay balance differences between the two. Weapons feel different, with different fire rates and recoil. And the damage model has been radically shifted. Death comes quickly in the beta, situated more towards Call of Duty's durability, or even last year's DICE-developed Medal of Honor multiplayer. Firefights in the beta prioritize reflexes over tactics, which is a departure from Bad Company 2.

This is not the case with Battlefield 3 as it is now. The version of Battlefield 3 that I spent hours playing last week has weapons and damage that feel like Battlefield Bad Company 2. This, if you aren't sure, is a good thing. It changes the dynamics of firefights, allowing for each side to take and hold positions, and making flanking and tactical coordination much more viable. The increased player survivability also make vehicles in Battlefield 3 more fair than they would be with the beta's damage models.
U Y DO THIS DICE?

Okay there was some dumb stuff with the SMGS, Shottys and the F2000 but every used cover and on average BF3 guy did not run around like Rambo but their making it like BC2 now? Oh dear god, why dont you want me to buy your game EA?
So yay! Its back to emptying a quarter of a mag to kill someone! And "inb4usayHCmode" remember that DICE never balances "Hardcore Mode", as long as something does not effect regular mode DICE does not give a ****...

I actually prefer Battlefield.

Its a nice thing to come home to after a long stressful day, no worrying about getting AVTed or MKBed. No pulling the trigger of my gun only to have it do nothing.

Just, pure unadulterated fun!

Yet I do love RO2 and the fact that it takes more than 2 braincells to do well.

EDIT: It seems people are saying BF3 will be extremely buggy.
Im sure it will be buggy, but the Beta was a build that was a few months behind the retail build.
