you lose all your ranks and such on the Final release.

I didn't buy the deluxe for multiple reasons including this. (another was the free unlocks. I hate having free first day unlocks!)

The beta is MP only, and will contain a subset of the maps (3 maps) with all 3 gametypes. We will likely rotate in/out maps throughout the course of the beta. And disks are already being pressed, but the disks don't ship with the game code. That means we can (and most likely will) fix any bugs we find right up until release day.

i would say there will be most likely both. For balancing and testing purposes.

Why? What if there are issues with the other maps? If the beta testers don't get to try them, then we'll never know until after the game has been released.

That is why the friends and family beta has been going on for quite some time.
