Well im gonna try to be simplistic about this Tripwire. Your game is not ready.

The release date is just around the corner and this game still has far ways to go, if you don't want it getting butchered and picked apart by most critics which in the end will affect sales.

Now don't get me wrong here, you have something awesome. This game, while as buggy as it gets, is a blast to play. But i fear that if its released in a similar state its in now ( and lets face it, you don't have the time to polish it out enough) it will be dismissed as a buggy pile, and people will simply refuse to buy it. Or those who do buy it will bad mouth it into oblivion.

I want you to do good. I want to see more awesome games from you. I just don't want you to fail after you guys came all this way.

SO as a beta tester ( for what that is) PLEASE and i beg you ....listen to some advice and push back the release date some more to iron out the kinks in the game. There is a jewel here, but it needs some serious polishing.

I was talking with a buddy about this.
I think that tripwire is in a tight spot for release dates.

We have the new COD and the new BF on the way soon.

To release too close to that time would be a serious difficulty as the other two have a huge following already as well as a huge pile of money to get the word out about their games.

To release too soon after them would be letting your game out into a dry market. Most FPS players will already be on one of the two of those games.
And you can't wait too long to let a game out to market. It's just red ink until release time, so to wait for after them would mean a long wait, as i would expect the FPS market to be dry for at least a good 6 months after the new BF is out. It would take a pile of money to burn in order to wait for a better release time.

i kind of guess they just really don't have a choice for release date time based on fiances.

Tripwire's first mod was red orchestra, it wasn't fully ready but they are the kind of company that gets the game into their fans hands and works on it as if it were an MMORPG like World of Warcraft, it constantly will get updates, tweaks, new maps, new weapons etc. This is how Tripwire works, and I fully support it. I can deal with a few issues, I'm just glad I don't have any crashing problems.

That's acceptable while playing a free "mod", this is supposed to be a retail release, emphasis on "supposed" judging by the state of the current beta release.

i tend to agree with the OP , thow they can still work after release to sort rest of bugs and stuff....but maybe a beta key giveaway would help ..... so ppl can actualy see the basics of the game to have an ideea about it...

Ok they have trailers and stuff but it just isnt enough , let the ppl try it for a few days (except the DDE) to know what to expect of it

An open Beta now would kill sales with the game overnight, in it's current state, they won't do it.

I think the game is okay.

The only thin g that really need fixing are the horrible performance, the Crossfire issue, the browser issue and other things that make the game practically or hardly playable.

I can wait for TWI to come around to fix everything, but they really need to make the game work everyone, and let it play (somewhat) appropriately to their hardware

you do realise they are most probably working on the full game more than they are the beta? so the bugs we encounter now in the beta will most probably NOT be in the full game.

Do remember, what you're playing isn't the most current build. The Devs have their own in-house build that they're able to test without rolling out betas to tens of thousands of people.

Even when the beta gets patched, that's already not the latest build. So what we're seeing is going to be buggier than what TWI is working on.

That said, I have no idea how buggy the dev build is, and if it should be delayed. I would imagine people who buy the boxed version would be plenty pissed if they had to download a multi-GB patch after installing, so there is definitely a deadline.

The full version of the game will probably feel like a huge patch to all of us playing the beta for the past couple of weeks. I still don't think it will be perfect either, but TW is one of the few devs I'd put money into for a reason.

My major complaints are honestly based on game play, not bugs.

The devs have an inhouse build, yeah right, that's why they are asking people to bring their rigs into the office to test it on ffs.

Whats the point of a Beta if that's true lol.

Devs need to speak up & inform the beta testers as to wtf is going on, if i hear nothing about improvements implemented by Friday, this "Beta Tester" & his 9 buddies that pre purchased on Steam will be cancelling.

Thank you for listening.

with every patch, you create more bugs.

That is the process of development

Looks like patience is not your strongest point, are you sure Red Orchestra 2 is the right game for you?

Well they've mentioned they have an in-house build that is ahead of the releases. The people they're asking to bring in their rigs is so they can reproduce those specific crash bugs that they can't seem to do in-house.

What do you think they're doing between DDE build releases? Not coding and testing?

I actually loved the invitation. I haven;t seen any developer to anything of the kind so casually.

in my opinion every 1 with an open mind (avoid to say IDIOT or STUPID ppl) realise the difference of a / the BETA to an full release game .... this way giving them a taste of what to expect

And about the devs having another build its almost true in some ways.... u can see in some trailers of closed beta testers that they dont encounter some bugs we do , eg i dont remember to see some1 seeing throw a wall in the trailers etc ...
