This always reminds me of the Vietnam war because I loved the series Tour Of Duty as a kid (although I recognize now it was a complete lie...)

The simplicity of the melody, the innocence in how the piccolo first presents it, and the heavier orchestration later on to match the very heavy and depressing reality of the whole affair.... very moving, especially while watching the movie.
Same with The Longest Day, although in this case it is more of just a jaunty, pleasant march... and, boy, do I like a good march.
