Seems like every time I get to Hans I instinctively switch to either Commando or Support if I am not one already, the amount of damage you can deal to him from a safe distance is reason enough.

Medic is also very capable; although the weapons are weaker you are able to do a lot of good for your team and I've been able to solo a 6 man Hans as medic when my team got separated and destroyed, including one of his heal cycles, by kiting him, healing often, and chipping his health away.

But I've never tried to fight him as berzerker. I know he is parryable, it's just that his melee attacks and gas grenades are so deadly I just never really wanted to be close to him.

Who has faced Hans as Berzerker? Is it advisable? Any tips?

Berserker is very viable against Hans especially because he has extra movement speed like the Medic, it's just a case of knowing the maps and sticking to certain routes to dramatically lower your chances of catching bullets and grenades. NEVER use the Eviscerator against Hans though: the weapon only deals in slashing damage which Hans resists by 50%, on top of which he has no head health either so firing buzzsaws at his head won't kill him any quicker.

Take a Pulverizer, trick him into running around a corner of a narrow doorway where you're close enough for him to want to lunge at you with a melee attack, you can use that opportunity to land an explosive hard hit on him each time and then move elsewhere to repeat. Make sure you have a good route after he feeds from you to heal and take cover from his guns and grenades while dealing with the zeds, this sometimes can actually be a little tougher than fighting Hans himself, depending on which zeds spawn and how much they block your path!

If you're unsure of how that looks, check out this video as an example and go to 22:30 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWGc70Z5TsU

From my personal experience, Berserker has a pretty viable role against Hans.

What I usually do when fighting Hans is to wait around corners when he's targeting people near me to avoid getting shot by his guns, and then move in on him when gets close another and start swinging.

A few swings and I'll get his aggro soon enough. When I get his attention, I would just parry lock him in place and have the rest of my team gun him down.

When he starts throwing grenades, I would stand right in front him so some of those grenades bounce off me and run off as fast as I can around a corner, that's less grenades my team has to worry about getting caught in, and in the mean time someone else would have gotten his attention. Plenty enough time to heal up and run back up to him to get his attention.

If everyone in your team somehow dies and you find yourself soloing him, either cheese him to death by circle strafing him or just kite him with a ranged weapon like a SCAR or a Vlad. Something that could get the long range done.

When the time comes when you don't have any ranged weapons left, you're the only one left alive and only have your trust Banghammer, kite him as hard as you can. Hide around corners so he won't immediately shoot you and ambush him. If by any chance he does come around a corner to throw grenades, run away and find another corner to ambush him at.

One pulverizer is great against hans, if the rest of the team shoots him and heals you from over ten meters away.
If he's flailing his bayonets at you, he's not shooting bullets or throwing grenades at your team, so they don't have to take cover from him. They can spray lead at him with far less interruptions.

But while you pulverize him, if there's another berserker trying to hit him at the same time, a support trying to land every boomstick pellet, or someone syringing you, hans will detect he's being surrounded, and counter that by instantly emitting gas around himself. If you're pulverizing him, you're at the epicenter of that fart cloud, and things tend to go badly.

You can currently do the same "one guy up close, everyone else away" tactic with an AA12er, but when they patch out spin2win, that will become less viable, and it'll have to be a parrying pulverizer.

Edit: Inc N Det changed some of the above. The melees are way rougher, but berserker's tougher too, now. So it's gotta be berserker if you want someone to hog hans' attention.
The farts aren't a big deal now.
Smash is handy.
Zwei instead of pulv is a fine option, stabs in particular.

From my experience its probably the best spec/class to run against Hans, because of parrying. If you have 1 medic all you have to do is wait around a corner when he throws his nades you run in before he starts gunning people down with those evil dual SGs  , after that you just parrylock him while your medic heals you and your team bursts him down. Tank his heal Cycles and back off for nades then repeat. Very simple as long as your medic and your team knows to not get close to him, because if 2 or more are in his proximity he will well literally Fart gas.... which is so brutal in so many ways :(

I usually just straight up tank hans with parries and blocks. With a good medic and a bit of space, you can spare your team a lot of damage by just forcing hans to melee you. The one problem with this strategy, is that you have very little room for error. If you miss a couple parries or blocks in a row, you are basically dead.

Also, you need a decent amount of room to avoid his grenades. Without it, you might be forced to tank hans within some of his gas grenades.

I think that as of update 1013, you are better with medic than berserker.

I mean currently Hans does not do a lot of damage... except with its melee attack.

So, it's a bad idea of putting yourself into range on purpose. You could do a lot more of damage by just shooting with your T4 as a medic, healing your team and staying as far away as possible.

Of course, if you're very good as a berserker, you can indeed aggro him and parry its attack. But, like Specskill said, you will quickly die if you miss.

I have killed Hans mostly using support with little problems. Berserker works very well as well with either the sword or the pulverizer.
