SMIFF was always one for hitting people with his point of view and not bothering to sugar coat it... in fact he generally coated it in broken glass and barbed wire instead.
That doesn't mean however that what he said is to be completely ignored.
SMIFF said:
It's possible to kill a 6 man HoE Fleshpound with just the Knife as any perk without it ever raging or you ever taking damage.
He probably meant all you need for a fleshpound is a knife as any perk, and you can keep breaking LoS without ever raging it or taking damage. In between obviously you can deal a tiny bit of damage and slowly whittle down its health in total safety. So although what he said there isn't exactly correct when taken literally, it doesn't take much effort to work out what he actually meant
Although he is now a friend of mine, I'm not saying that with any bias. In fact I for one sit in agreement with him regarding a fair number of issues in the game, and at times it does lead me to post some rather bitter posts
Using this topic as an exmaple...
Spoiler!
Way back when before the discovery of the instant decap trick, the trick to laming the fleshpound was to keep hitting it with tiny bits of damage every now and again, while running away from it. Since back then there was no rage timer a player could quite happily kite away from the FP just out of reach and slap it every now and again without penalty.
That, and the Instant Decap were both nerfed at the same time if my memory serves correctly, since this was considered cheap and against the spirit of the game.
My bile, and presumably SMIFF's as well, is that this corner kiting method where players reset the rage timer when they lose LoS, and this Zerker method of dodging a FP's swing to keep it docile while doing tiny chips of damage to the FP over and over, is essentially an advanced version of the same laming principle. In my mind it is against the spirit of the game, and is akin to using glitch spots in maps, and using that technique to acquire free money for harder difficulties (which I won't explain further, since I don't want to publicise how to do it ).
Sadly it is not an opinion shared by everyone, corner kiting and Zerker FP dodging are considered legit tactics by some players and as such all attemtps to have them fixed seem to come to a crashing halt and a collosal rage match.
Knowing SMIFF it wouldn't surprise me if one of these rage matches was his undoing... if not on this topic, surely another
