Been lagging. KF using 1,120,968K mem!

Hi guys (new on this forum)

I experience exactly the same problem of 1,300k of RAM used by this game after a small time in a single map (solo or not, and no need of changemap), slow down performances, especially visible at wave 4 and after...

But ONLY when my graphics options are set to "D3D"... I DONT HAVE those problems at all in D3D9, and the game remains under 900k (but there is "mumble problem" with D3D9, other debate ^^)

WinXP 32bits SP3
3Go RAM
nVIDIA 8800GTX (last drivers)
Intel e6400

kf reached 1,013,000, i checked when i noticed my game was choppy and laggy yet i had only 30 ping in the server. Don't remember this occurring much before but when it starts kf is almost unplayable bc i cant aim.

Windows vista home premium 64 bit
8 gb ram
605gb free space

I have nothing else running while I play games, no itunes, lime wire, aol, nothing at all, just Steam/kf

Another thing maybe linked with this prob: if KF if set on DX9 and dont run with mumble, you have to de-activate the "overlay" in the extended setup of mumble...

my memory is 900k-1 gig while in game , not sure if i have this but I'm also getting lag spikes since the update.(solo and multi) my frames suddenly drop for no reason. for example as a firebug shooting directly down at the ground with the flame thrower will drop the frames to as low as 12 fps.

I had this issue right after the update came out then I altered that CacheSizeMegs thingy in the killingfloor.ini file to 256 and it fixed the issue entirely. No more odd choppy movement, no more slow map loading, no more memory leaks.

I too seem to be cursed with this memory issue, i run a lower spec than alot of machines mentioned in here but i always managed to play KF with no issues previous to this update. After playing a map and loading the next one i frequently manage to load part way into round 2 :|, if it gets there at all and i don loose patience with it!

Can't write anything on after map-change, after every game I have to go back to the main menu and then start again.

Mem doesn't go up to those insane amounts, perhaps something with the settings to do? I'm running pretty much everything at lowest possible.


Unrelated notes about the game for boasting-purposes:
1. I never once bought ammo from the shop
2. In the end I had more than 20,000 monies :D
3. I probably shot less bullets/bolts than I had kills (Crossbow rules)

I am having these bugs too...

I would like to know if Tripwire is actually trying to fix the memory-leak and performance problem ? For me it seems like they dont care ...
Releasing the patch (obviously not tested), making the game unplayable, with the advertising-thingy and starting the free-weekend in the same breath is a kind of clever decision...
But are you aware that some people, including me, actually dont see any ads ingame, just a blank frame ? Kind of nice, getting money for showing ads, that are actually not shown... i feel scammed and I feel used to scam a third party...

So just to sum it up:
-Releasing an obliously NOT TESTED patch at friday, introducing great new bugs, making the game unplayable for many people
-Not making any statement on progress in fixing the new bugs
-Enabling the free-weekend and introducing the advertising system (very clever)

Nais guise... If i had the choice between New Content(unplayable) and old content (playable), i would probably chooooose... guess what ?

The last patch did not help me. Just tried to play Foundry and got 900 ping and had to quit, I rechecked my memory and sure enough it was in the 1 mill.

since the update, i too still get crashes and amazingly high mem usage when loading the new levels. I have currently quit playing KF until something is done to help these issues. I also crash on the 2nd map load every single time after i play one of the new levels, or foundry. I also have to wait somewhere upwards of 3 minutes for a map to load...what happened to KF TWI?

side note: biotics, manor, and offices dont seem to put any kind of stress on my comp with mem usage in the mid 300k...but the new levels do thrice that always around 690-1,100k

In this case, i have to say that simpler looks like its much more efficient in this game engine. I dont know much about these things, but i can say i load every map in COD4MW in 10 seconds, i load CS maps in like 5 seconds...KF takes upwards of 3 minutes, used to be about 30 seconds. TOO FRUSTRATING FOR ME!:mad: On top of the extremely long load times, i still get tons of hiccups (freezes, hitches) while playing the game on the lowest settings, resulting in sure deaths everytime im on suicidal (i play every one of my other games on the highest setting possible)...Hitches come at the start of wave 1, and everytime a new specimen is introduced on my screen (loading bloats seem to lock me up the longest, sometime upwards of ten 2nd, guaranteeing death, as the server keeps running without me)

Im done for now, put a message on the KF frontpage when you guys think you kinked out all these issues. I will be checking back regularly, until then i will just play some COD4 or World at War where i know things are consistant.

One last thing i would like to note is that when i play offline, and disconnect my internet connection, i do not get the little videos in the lobby and my game runs at a constant 70+ fps with absolutely no hangs, freezes, hiccups, hitches...etc. And this is achieved on high settings. This is something to look into TWI. I know you guys say there i no issue with the massive tech (that we had no choice to agree to) but my comp seems to think otherwise...:confused:

and on single player i come to the patriarch wave 10 but than its crasch with a runtime error that the applikation wants to terminate a blabla on an unusal way or so ?
