One of the things I found unrealistic in Red Orchestra was the bayonet, when you hold it out in front of you to charge and bump into a person, it does not damage them. In real life the momentum of your body running into the person would cause the bayonet to pierce the enemy. I would like to see this fix in Heroes of Stalingrad.

Think of the FF issues - you could kill/wound teammates by just running into them - it would be a rather big issue when griefers would realize it. I feel that the present system is fine - you have some control and if you release the button while charging, I think you do the additional damage that's caused by momentum, as you should.

Also, a much more realistic physics system would be needed in that case - imagine charging into a wall - in that case you'd either drop or break your rifle and you'd fall down onto the floor or even hurt yourself with your own bayonet! :p

Running into them should not do as much damage as thrusting it.

It would be nice to see.

But, as mentioned, it could add more friendly kill accidents.

Would be cool if they could add a way to have a advantage by having your bayonet off and vice versa. Maybe a slight reduction in accuracy when you have it attached.

The thing is that, at least the Soviet rifles, were better balanced with the bayonet on, so that's a little hard to balance :p

This is more or less true from my experience. My Mosion 91/30 shot high and to the right until someone told me to try shooting it with the bayo on. That helped it alot. The guns were sighted in during production with the bayonet attached. It puts a bit of pressure on the barrel, just enough to affect aim. Not because it's heavier, but because the barrel actually bends ever so slightly. At least that's my understanding.
