To be honest that's a completely logical thing to do. And I'm pretty sure this is routine for most publishers. It's just about keeping this below the desk.

Logical yes, it guarantees as many sucker-reviews as possible, racking up your salescount.
But as Xendance said it IS higly unethical because people are being tricked into buying the game. Once it's too late, all the more negative and thus honest reviews will come out. Which defeats the purpose of a review.

OK, I'm not sure what ISN'T awesome about base jumping off a ****ing mountain to get to a map's objectives. Even if it plays badly, you gotta give DICE props for creative map design on that one
Yeah, that 500m drop looks fun. Looking forward to seeing how that plays out on the defending team too... shooting up at all those jumpers!
I miss the mod days. Best gaming years I've ever had. Nothing has come out that matches the feeling of playing good ol' RO:CA.
A general hint: I'm merely recognizing and acknowledging things the way they are. By doing so I don't judge. I'm merely looking at the facts. If I had to judge then of course it's an unethical thing to do.
I agree, it fully depends of the view you have on the subject. It's very unethical and I stongly oppose this behaviour.
However as a manager I would probably do the same (or something similar).

Not sure how this game could get over 7 out of 10 in any serious publication. The rating of games has got steadily worse where they don't mean anything anymore. 8, 9 and 10 should be for games with real merit which are few and far between.
When I read magazines nowadays it's like reading Mean Machine Sega all over again, every game getting 10/10 and thus the score being worthless.

Yeah I didn't know you had to pay for it unless you preordered/bought the LE though.
Yeah, I don't think they said it then, but it was certainly expected. Nothing is free anymore. Well, nothing free to games as high profile as this from a huge publisher like EA.
Enjoyed BF2 despite some of the technical issues and have been looking forward to BF3 for years. It's quite frankly a slap in the face to see how EA/DICE are dumbing down the whole experience in order to entice the COD fanbase. You name it, DICE have either simplified or completely omitted it from BF3.

Totally ... based on that trailer you would NEVER know that this was a MP-focused game. Kinda weird that even though DICE has claimed that MP is still the focus, they dedicate their ENTIRE launch trailer to the SP campaign. Even then, 90% of whats in this video is from scripted moments or cut scenes! fail! There's hardly any gameplay in a launch trailer!?
Perhaps you missed their dedicated MP trailer that was released just a few days ago?
