It's so beautiful!

I'm so torn. On one hand, it looks positively ****ing awesome, on the other hand, the the track-record of gameplay that past gen FPS' have provided, along with the increasingly horrible DLC and post-release support is a constant reminder not to get too b0nerific.

Cant argue with those spectacular visuals. But between my aging system specs and the lack of mods tools Ill probably be sitting out of BF3 for a while.

Yeah I think I'll be sticking with RO2 for a long time until I scrounge the cash for a new video card to play BF3. My GTX 260 definitely aint gonna cut it lol.

Those trailers look pretty awesome. The tank mission, for a singleplayer scripted mission, looked amazing. Especially the lighting and distant smoke. Also, the scenario wasn't TOO outrageous compared to the crap we've seen in CoD lately.

Like everyone else I'll wait to see how it plays before being totally won over. That MP gameplay trailer brought back not-so-great memories of the overly spammy BF2, with all the crap blowing up everywhere, etc.

They should leave the run & gun stuff to id Software.

it was largely a corridor stage, focusing first and foremost on player's gun skills as opposed to a cooperative effort of vehicles and soldiers. It may have started in an open park (which itself still felt relatively small since players were fenced in by walls and rivers), but within moments the level was small, 50 ft wide corridors and cramped hallways. The hope appears to be to create an experience that'll give the hardcore, long-time fans what they desire in a battlefield experience, but also to have stages that appeal to the more arena-style fans that play games like Call of Duty

Gah! That's going in the wrong direction IMO. Bigger is better.

Looks pretty epic. Presentation-wise, that is. The graphics look great and the radio distortion sounds bang-on authentic. Gameplay-wise... eh, maybe not that special. Don't think the SP will be very long either, but it does look like it will be enjoyable. The more important question would be: will the MP maps be that big and good-looking too? And will the A-10s be flyable?

'Don't panic' on the dude's helmet in the beginning, is that a reference to Hitchhiker's Guide?:)

Inclusion of prone and the ability to opt out of revive
Thank.....you.....GOD! We've developed a habit of screaming "DNR!" in BC2 because the rez spam gets so bad. When you've already gotten gunned down in an alley way or something, and your medic is practically giving the other guy kills by rezzing you and retreating.....it's one of the more raeg-inducing parts of that game.

Prone Balance: Lens will flash if a player looks at it
Kind eh about this one. Muzzle flash is what tells you where a prone target is. I kind of dislike balance mechanics like that. I've been ready for dealing with snipers shooting from prone for a while, it's not much worse than when a sniper crouches and puts his weapon THROUGH a wall now. Ah well.

Never played 2142, but I imagine taking away ammo from assault means they rethought how smart of an idea it was to give guys with 40mm grenade launchers unlimited ammo.

Vehicles now regen a small amount of health
Also kind of meh on this one. Requiring an engineer to truly dominate in a vehicle was part of balance, I thought. Solo chopper pilots just flying circles over the base with the stick at full tilt don't need anymore ways to stay alive, they've got plenty already. At the very least I hope we get good infantry only controls. There are times when you just get sick of vehicles in BF...and I sort of dislike the idea of people going all lone gun men with their tank. That happens enough already.

I wonder if they're going to make choppers vulnerable to small arms fire again, like they did in BC2: Vietnam. That was one thing I hated about BC2, was that choppers were flying fortresses compared to how they were handled in BF2.

  • Operation Metro objective is to take back Stock Exchange
  • Team Deatchmatch, Conquest, Rush gamemodes confirmed
  • Battle Log - hub for social Battlefield experience
  • 4 classes tuned for teamplay - Assault (medic abilities), Engineer (anti-vehicle, repair), Support (give ammo, suppressive fire), Recon (main focus supplying intel)
  • Heavily focused on unlocks, more than any Battlefield game, customization key
  • Engineer has flashlight under-slung on weapon for lighting up area, blinding enemy
  • Every weapon has 3 customization slots (barrels, etc)
  • Support solider has bi-pod - placed on any surface in game (more accuracy)
  • New feature called Suppression - all the bullets you fire at an enemy affect them regardless if you hit them or not. All the bullets you fire that get close enough will start to reduce their combat efficiency. Squad can then flank the enemy and you will receive a Suppression score.
  • Jets, boats, tanks, helicopters confirmed
  • LAV-25 Light Armored Vehicle confirmed, also in Operation Metro
  • Dog tags - fully customizable, dynamically updated, only obtainable from knife kills in the back
  • Knifing system more dramatic, spectacular

  • On the death screen it now displays statistics of how many times you have killed the person who killed you and how man times they killed you (e.g. 2-1)
  • When deployed it displays on the bottom of the screen a countdown of when a squad member can spawn on you, and when they spawn who it is
  • Most of the rifles that we played with had 3 fire mode : automatic, semi-automatic, and single shot
  • After you are killed the health of the person who killed you is shown as a heath bar over their head
  • When your in a vehicle and stopped the camera begins to shake from the rattling of the engine
  • Flashlight can blind you momentary if someone points it directly at you
  • 100 points for killing someone, 10 extra points for a headshot, 100 points for reviving
  • In order to revive you must hover over the dead body and hold down left mouse button while your character rubs the paddles together and charges them before the player is revived
  • 2 grenades were given by default
  • In order to knife in this build of the game you need to press
