Maybe I've just played too much BC2, but I swear I heard BC2 unit audio playing in that clip.

Light effects aside (which you can't appreciate really with video from a handheld camcorder at that distance), the first action sequence was kind of meh to me. He mows down like 8 guys who don't really react to him, hops in a vehicle and shoots some cars with a mounted gun, then gets knocked off by a tremor. A prettier version of everything I've done in the last 4 FPS I've played.

The full realism of that building collapsing got a "wow" from me though. As did the minimal shots of the jet in action. Compared to BF2 when we last saw them, with no HDR lighting, the view from the cockpit now looks pretty intense.

TBH, after watching this I am less convinced I will buy it then before.
Only thing I see here is nice graphics and different setting. rest is really Codlike to me... scripts, no recoil and uber drama

But of course it's the sp and I don't care about that, want to see some MP gameplay:p

I'd rather have a scripted sp with drama and immersion than a dull none scripted sp with bots tbh. Anyhow its the multiplayer which is my main attraction, same with RO2.

Is it just me, or is the Weapon handling in BF3 kinda... dull ? Don't know a better word, but BC2 and of course Killing Floor/Ostfront had a more vivid feel. Heck even Front Mission evolved did a better job at delivering a "feel" to the Weapons.

What I like about the weapons is that reload animation reminds me of Raven Shield. The weapons all pretty much had the same animation, but you get the impression it was how elite operatives really handle their weapon, because its R6 before Vegas after all! And to me from what I can see, it looks like the weapon really gets out of control when he blasts from uptop on full auto. Black Ops is similar...but its still easy as fuq to just pull down the trigger and have the recoil hit the guy. That may be more prevalent though on the console versions since there's auto aim. But of course I'm sure most of the BF3 gameplay will be more arcade style than realistic style.

From what I have seen it looks far better than BC2. The animations in BC2 are odd, incomplete, and only feature 1 animation instead of the required 2.

In terms of sounds, BC2's weapons sounded uninspired and lame with the exception of a few. Weapon handling didn't feel very good at all.

In this BF3 video, at least the animations look somewhat lifelike and realistic.

Those are two extremes; I meant that the building follow-on top of you and soloing on the mounted gun to hold of hordes of enemies, next to the mentioned helicopter defense against hundreds of terrorists... I think it's overkill just as any other codlike shooter.

Also the building looks like it is attracted to you, as if it wanted to hit you while it otherwise missed you. but that i can't be sure.

The heavy scripting is just to show off what the engine is capable of. It's not supposed to be depicting a realistic scenario. The rail shooter single player will demonstrate many cool abilities the engine can handle. If you look at it like this then what they are doing makes more sense.

Another cool way to show off what the engine is truly capable off would be to give out mod tools. :p

Probably between tits.
TBPH, the old Counterstrike had, and still has, some of the best weapon reload animations in the biz. Polycount may be much lower, and the handling may be overtly theatrical, BUT the sensation of object interaction and inertia to most weapon reload animations is unrivalled. Sure, there are lowpoints, like the AWP and Scout rebolting, but the AUG, M4, MP5, P228 and USP, among others, still look great to this day.
