I never did get the blood on the screen thing. In this case, I'm not wearing goggles nor am I carrying a camera and if that blood splashed on my eyeballs, shouldn't it be a lot more blurry. I can see pretty good for blood in my eyeballs.
Am I missing something here?

Seriously, can someone explain this too me. If this is a fps then I'm not looking through a lens. What's with the blood on the screen?

It's just another way of telling you you're wounded. In 'the old days' it used to be an icon in the bottom left corner that did the same thing.

I could say the same thing about RO's soldier icon that lets you know you're wounded: 'Seriously, can someone explain this too me. If this is a fps then I'm not a Terminator. What's with the icons on the screen?'.

Bloody screen isn't any less realistic than icons on the screen.

That makes me sad.

This, however:

Makes me very happy, as I've missed firing modes A LOT in BC2.

I'm going to guess now that co-op ain't happening across the entire SP campaign, if at all, either.

It is kinda sad that we get excited over some features that were presented us many years ago. Only new things that weren't presented so far in BF2 is graphics and good singleplayer(compared to 1942/vietnam and BF2/2142).

I'm still optimistic seeing how well the BC2 sold on PC and was supposedly most played platform. And I liked it, these are the rare games that offer the same experience of large scale battles like RO.

But when it comes to highlights like this, I really hope the MP part gets by far the most attention:

After this part, the player is thrown into a large-scale fight, where he has to man a .50-caliber gun and mow down waves of terrorists rushing his position. A helicopter is providing cover, and there's just complete carnage everywhere.

I don't know how many times is this same TOTALLY same sequence taken place. I mean the *****! How unoriginal can you get! Zero creativity, unbelieavable, if this was ANY other market you would be buried and pissed on your grave. Who plays these games for SP? Have they not played SOME other fps in the last recent, like 10 years??!! Imagine the movie makers making the same Titanic all over again year after year without even trying to be creative, what kind of loyal zombies would go to see that?

I quit the Call of Duty 4 sp campaign because I coudn't stomach the same repetion all over again, and this comes from a person who doesn't touch most of the sp first person shooters.

No, it will have an unlockable version of a weapon, that features firing modes.
He didn't say that RO2 wouldn't have fire modes. He was simply commenting on the silliness of RO2 making them unlockable vs BF3 having them from the get go. And I have to agree with him! (See "Upgrading the PPSH Thread" in Suggestions)

On another note I'm really impressed that they're implementing the "one extra in the chamber" as well as all the firemode options. I know these are things we should "expect" and aren't really features, but its still nice that hey're not cutting corners like on the Bad Company games, which is BIG relief.

I hate to say it, but I'm more impressed by each bit of information I learn about this game. I only say "hate" because that's an extra 50-60 bucks I have to shell out this year on video games!

The game looks nice, and it seems like a much better done MW2 type SP experience. This is not bad since it is not the focus of the game. Assuming the story is not as awful as CoD and it is well done, it would be nice to play in addition.

I don't like the firing sound for the M4, which has waaaaay too much bass in it, and I don't think it should be firing full auto. But at least its gameplay and the graphics look amazing!

One really nice thing I noticed is the weapon animations are spot on in the video. The player empties all of the gun's mags completely the first few times, so you see him cock the gun after each reload.

When the chamber is empty and the bolt is locked back (when you run out of ammo), you should be hitting the bolt release on the side. M4s are indeed semi/burst only. But the Army will be modifying the M4 to the M4A1 soon anyways. Good to know that they are at least trying to animate wet/dry reloading.

But this is a BF game, so realism is not its focus.

Wait... I'm no gun nut, but what's the difference between single shot and semi-auto?

Single shot means the gun can only shoot once before it has to be reloaded as it does not have a magazine. Don't confuse single shot guns with stuff like Mosins (has a 5 shot magazine).

Semi auto means that the weapon automatically chambers the next round into the chamber once you pull the trigger. Only one round is discharged per trigger pull. Semi auto and single shot are completely different.

Yeah yeah the animation isn't perfect but it's MUCH better than past BF games. That's all I'm saying.

True. The textures are far better than BC2. In BC2 the weapon models and textures look very poor, even compared so Source mods (INS, RnL). I am liking how the weapon models and textures look this time.

Ugh the main problem I have is that Frostbite was poorly optimized for PC. I remember that people doing performance tests found that the game barely even used graphics cards. I hope that Frostbite 2 is magically better optimized or I won't be playing the game regardless.

I consider my machine a medium-high spec machine and it struggles a ton with BC2 which If ind silly.

You are familiar with the government issued "birth control" glasses? Maybe you are wearing those :D

Seriously, I don't know, never liked it myself.

I would sooner have more time put into more or better quality multiplayer maps and time to create mod tools than a single player campaign. Battlefield is all about the multiplayer dude!

I run BFBC2 maxed out with 30-50 frame rates depending on the map and player size. It might dip below the 30s when there are lot of people in the server, but the gameplay quality goes down when the maps have more than 10-12 per team anyways.

I play at 1680x1050 with 8x AA. Specs are GTX 260, 4GB DDR2, and AMD 9950BE.

Either the game somehow doesn't like your hardware or you didn't choose the right settings. I'm running 6 year old hardware besides a 3 year old graphics card and average about 40fps. That's with mostly max settings minus HBAO and AA. That's actually one of the things I love about BC2, looks and runs great.

Agreed. It only slows down during the end game cutsecnes - when the planes drop bombs on buildings. Otherwise it runs super smooth for me.

An HD4870 1GB will also max it out 30-50 frame rates with an AMD 9950BE to.

Weird. These are my system specs:

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
Asus Rampage III micro-atx motherboard
Intel i7 930, 2.8 ghz quad core (8 threads)
GTX 260 896 MB graphics
6 GB DDR3 RAM
630 W Rosewill PSU
1 TB HD (forget brand)

Last time I played it I was getting pretty crappy FPS.
