They mentioned stabbing people in the head kills a guy in one stab. But how effective is this really? Sure if you stab someone in the neck or so but the head? I imagine it would get messy but I wonder how easy it is to actually penetrate the head. Either way probably a lot easier to kill people by aiming at their bodies instead.

Just seem really odd to me to aim for peoples heads when using a bayonet.

Well ideally you wouldn't aim for the head, but the point is that if you were to hit the head, it would be an instant kill/incapacitation. Just like you wouldn't aim for the toe ideally, but if you do hit the toe, there will be some sort of effect (presumably).

Feels like a head would be hard to penetrate if it isn't fixed. I think a bayonet hit towards the head would be less likely to kill then one to the chest.

Crosshairs is not done with RO HOS and is cooking up a little something special for the future that will blow your socks off.
That's a guarantee.
Yeah, I'll bet you guys are sucking up just to get an invite to the 'friends and family beta'..:p

You guys did a nice job handling the enormous amount of people on the IRC and feeding Yoshiro the questions. It was cool of John to take the initiative and to make a point of answering IRC questions.

They talk about the 'Tank Diagram'. What is it, and can we see it?

I doubt that.
Especially in the case of the Soviet bayonet, which is basically just a pike. Even if you would hit the skull and 'bounce' off the bone chances are high you will find a weak spot, like eye sockets, nose, or hell maybe even the mouth, basically any cavity, you can thrust that pike through and kill your enemy.
The German bayonet is a lot wider but imo that also would have little trouble getting inside of the skull if you hit a cavity. High chance if you put enough force behind it, you can split the skull as you work the bayonet inside.
Juicy :p
Anyways, it would most definitely leave you combat-ineffective if somebody would ram a bayonet into your head. And combat-ineffective is basically the same thing as being dead in a game.

Knife to the skull probably wouldn't be fatal, but a bayonet with the weight of a rifle behind it is a different story. I would say, a very good chance of a concussion, and even a knock-out, which is incapacitated = dead. If you get it dead center, that could result in breaking part of the skull (say an orbital, mandible, or maxillary fracture) - probably an incapacitation right there.

I would imagine a bayo to lungs or even abdomen would put you into slow-death mode.

Edit: Damn you Crosshairs podcast. I was refusing to buy the PC Gamer on principle as I think $9 is too pricey to read one article (oh, and on cheapness too). Now I've been enticed and guilted enough to go drop an entire Hamilton and pick it up (just like with NPR).
