In the last three days I witnessed axis team commanders preoccupied with getting the A objective of Hanto by mass banzai charging while the allied defense was not softened sufficiently.

Simply putting an arty strike in the center leaves the BAR gunners, machine guns and flamethrower operators unmolested. The result is a perfect mass execution of banzaiing japanese soldiers.

Imho an axis squad should infiltrate the right and left flank and try to interdict the allied reinforcements.
Before the banzai charge, three or two groups should be just in front off the objective in order not to loose too much stamina. Then spam their granades and start the rush in.

There is no point in a large group in the middle of the river close to collapsing shouting "Banzai!" and being roasted and gunned down by mashineguns.

My take on it:

1. Have the commander arty the allied reinforcement route.

2. Flank around both sides, distracting main forces. (SL's for respawns)

3. Nade the crap out of the bunkers/reinforced positions. (Take out their SL's)

4. Smoke directly on top of the objectives. All smokes, that is.

5. Banzai.

(Next steps if necessary)

6. Forced respawn.

7. Banzai.

If axis get past the frontline, the only real obstacle is the last objective. The rest feels pretty easy to get as a bushmonster.

And not on the objective. Pretty Please!?

negative, drop artillery directly on the objective, infantry waits patiently for it to finish and then rushes in. You can cap it barely taking any casualties.

You need to kill the defenders at the front of the trench, or at the very least make them hide in the dug outs. dropping it behind the objective doesn't do much because the attacking team won't be able to kill the front line defenders quickly enough for the lack of their reinforcements to make a difference.

A shouldn't take more than 2 minutes to cap if you just drop mortars and hold back.

I'm finding that the only way the Japanese really get in is if they collapse the flanks.Once they hold the left flank to the bridge and the big rock on the right flank it's all over normally. At that point they can toss grenades and banzai right down the middle. Only a fresh reinforcement wave or perfectly timed flamethrowers can save it.

What's sad is when I play American on Hanto I normally sit on those flanks and watch as they try to rush straight through that river. It's better to go all the way on the far side, smoke, then fight up the flank rather than die and try to run the river gauntlet over and over.

Whenever I go Allies on Hanto, I try to get the machine gunner role but every time I rush down to the trenchline to line up and shoot Axis, it seems like every time that the Japanese have brains and flank far left and right completely out of my field of view.

Yet when I'm Axis on Hanto, my team always loves to banzai down the centre, even after using all their stamina sprinting to the final hill. No amount of banzai hp boost can save you from charging the A defences of Hanto head on. Smoke is needed at the very least for frontal assaults where you can then use the dead ground before the trenches to hide yourself.

Both the left and right flanks need to be attacked. While this is happening the Commander needs to drop artillery behind the object where reinforcements come from preventing them from rejoining the battle. While this is occurring, Squad Leaders need to smoke the objective so everyone can safely move in. All this can be accomplished in less than three minutes if down right. It also doesn't hurt to have knee mortars drop a few rounds directly into the trenches before the artillery drop to soften the objective up even more.

I agree with Marta, the OP. Including the suggestion that arty ought to be placed on the reinforcement route, not the objective itself.

The problem is that whenever I play Hanto, there's enough instances of an immediate, dumb bonzai actually working.

I'd offer up one difference though: In my experience the left/south flank is extremely uncooperative, and difficult to open up. And it doesn't do much to help the guys in the north, either. I wish flanking south were more effective, because I try to almost every round, but it's never worked for me, or anyone else I've seen. So I can't say I believe the south is worth any investment.

Instead, I figure adding to the north flank's weight is better, or adding careful pressure in the middle. Emphasis on careful. Which excludes bonzai.

Whats bonzai? Running towards enemy while holding a miniature tree in hand? ;)

Nah..Its a miniature version of Banzai charge. When you crawl near that last objective and then scream out for blood and death charging to the enemy and suddenly you realize that everyone else has stayed camping safely behind. Thats a bonzai charge.;)
