Balance for the PPsH Drum Mag

I found out that players will need to unlock the 71 round PPsH drum mag for balance issues, even though it was more common than the box mag.

A much more simple solution would be to make it so that if you choose Drum Mag you only get 1/2 Drum Mags to reload + 1 in the gun, forcing you to have to reload more tactically, this might cause you to go into a firefight with only 25 rounds because you do not want to waste them etc...

And if that were not enough you could increase the reload time for the drum mag and make it make more noise, like drum mags do, Ex: the tommygun.

This futile balance measure will only work for about 5 days before everyone has the drum mag and will only discourage new players.

It is also INCREDIBLY unrealistic from a game that prides itself on realism and refuses to put the MG42 for realism issues, to force everyone into using a very very rare magazine in replacement of the very common one.

Seriously, you couldn't let the MG42 slip by, or put in its prototype that HAS BEEN PROVEN to have been used at Stalingrad. BUT you put in a PPsH without the ICONIC, REALISTIC, drum mag.

I hope modders will be able to fix this if you don't; but then how will we get all the other stupid COD-UNLOCKS

Oh, cry me a bloody river. Don't you have better things to do than complaining about the amount of time it takes a player to access a different type of magazine?

Fact is this close to release it's not going to change.

Wait, what is the realism reason for having no MG42?

It wasn't used in Stalingrad.

And this complain has come up many times, we don't need a silly balance for the drum mag, unlockin it is compesation enough, by the time you unlock it the Germans can be skilled enough to out-do them or unlock the MP-40 dual stick mag.

I see no reason why it needs to change, the devs aren't gonna change it. Have fun with your heavily modded server.

Those things jamming was the reason why the stick mags were later introduced. That would make the drums not necessarily the better option than the mag.

One can then choose to go with more bullets but a slight risk of an ineffective weapon. Or go with safe sticks but limited bullets.

How would it work in detail though Zets? I'm not a fan of random chances, but I guess I could let this one slide.

Don't know how it would work out. Perhaps if you move through a lot of dirt your chances could increase. Or when firing a lot in a single round. Random stuff is always difficult to implement with sense.

The best would be like if it would jam if you did a certain wrong mouse movement, so you could learn yourself not to use your mouse in that way.

Hmm, why do I have absolute no worry or resentment that there is most likely no MG42 in the initial release?



Have some faith in the dev-team people, and be an optimist.
There will be an MG-42 sometime, somewhere down the road.

The best would be like if it would jam if you did a certain wrong mouse movement, so you could learn yourself not to use your mouse in that way.

Would be pretty cool. Could be as simple as the weapon jam if you do any too quick movement with your mouse while you fire. Would limit its dominance in CQC for sure.

a slight downside like this is a good idea. after all didn't they say the reason for the unlock in the first place was the more realistically reduced recoil ment the ppsh was somewhat overpowered in game.

I think the countdown mode was a big reason for the necessity to nerf the PPSH. Since the teams switches sides you can't solve the balance issue with clever mapping.

I always love the people who come in here out of nowhere with no post history or contributions to the community/forums & demand/dictate how they think things should be.

So you can't use a Drum mag right away.... big frickin deal.

The PPSh41 was fairly balanced in RO1, although still powerful, as it should be in real life. No reason to believe it won't be in RO2.

Also from what i have read 1 Drum + Stick magazines was a fairly standard loadout for a Russian with a PPSh.
