I know that the main focus is on the MP part, but when a game offers an campaign, or any other official gamemode with AI, I expect to see an finished AI.

But they are far away from that point :(
Again I see them ignoring each other, passing the enemy. As infantry I see them taking my view because they love the take the cover RIGHT where I stand or just run through me.
On tankmaps the tanks drive next to the enemy (just as the infantry) or I get bumped by my own allied tanks (on an very open map).

Also their accuracy seems very fake when they hipshoot while running (and still do 1 shot 1 hit kills quite often). Though I liked their accuracy when steady aiming from the cover ;)

The Red Factory Defense mission (soviets) is unplayable for me, because my allies run around out of the capzone and the enemy quick caps because they just ignore the soviets and run into cap :D
No matter how many of them I shot alone (at least 14 in the first wave)

Thats another thing. My commands don't interest them. Although I command to attack or defend, they just move around outside cap zones or follow me, although I ordered everyone to move to objective.

This becomes extra frustrating, when you died and are about to take control of one of them, who is running into the open or any of those other mistakes - and when you take over you die immediatly.

This is really not too much expected. I can live with things like that they sometimes take cover to the wrong side (no, they were not shot from several directions) or some path errors where they circle around one waypoint.

Again, I don't expect too much, or and murder super duper AI. But at least the basics.

I think TWI did good on the AI this time around, I'm getting through the SP just fine. The biggest problem I have had so far is random crashing after I complete a stage. If you want to see bad AI play RO1 or even worse (being that it's an AI based game) ARMA 2.

The thing is, they're not singleplayer AI where they should behave like human characters. They're multiplayer bots that are supposed to behave like human players.
For what they are they are terrific. You'd be hard pressed to find better multiplayer bot AI for a tactical shooter!

Still bad for a singleplayer campaign where you expect singleplayer gameplay against human characters, but well... the so-called singleplayer campaign here are just multiplayer matches with you and bots so... Again, for what they are they are great.

Have you ever used or played with RO1 or the Mod's bots?

What difficulty level are you playing at?

The easiest solutions are one of two I have been using.... either command them to defend a specific location, or what works even better, command them to follow you and stay in the cap.... they all pretty well remain in the cap zone near you, rather than park in, around and outside of the cap zone.

Thats another thing. My commands don't interest them. Although I command to attack or defend, they just move around outside cap zones or follow me, although I ordered everyone to move to objective.

I haven't died yet from instantly taking over a bot being fired upon in the open.... though I did have a couple of close calls.

This is really not too much expected. I can live with things like that they sometimes take cover to the wrong side (no, they were not shot from several directions) or some path errors where they circle around one waypoint.

My only issue with the bots at this stage is that some of them seem to get stuck in certain areas and just stay there until I randomly take them over.

This is spot on. The AI is terrible at looking like the human characters they represent (real soldiers in war), in terms of their actions and movements -- BUT they do a decent job of mirroring the actions of players of a MP game.

Personally I find the single player very similar to my multi player experience.

Basically charging objectives while my team take forever to get in the cap zone and/or ignoring objectives even with me mashing the orders button.

The issue is that the gameplay is too fast to bother with squad commands.

I was so excited that i was able to command a squad but then i quickly realized how pointless it was.

At first i have my mg team deploy provide cover for my advancing riflemen, then i push my assult forward to capture the objective and redeploy the mg/riflemen to cover my flanks. But it wasnt working.

Average engagement rage is like 10m so there is no point. I just selected all fireteams and had them rush the objective; we did just as fine...

While I haven't finished either campaign, I find that the only way to win on Hero difficulty is to order all your squad members to attack the objective while you sit safely and wait. They will die over and over again, but eventually they will stay long enough in the cap zone and the enemy will ignore them until you win. Any scenario is possibly winnable if you put 30 minutes of sending about 100-200 friendly bots into cap zones. From the German capture of the Station and onward, it is not really possible to spearhead assaults as enemies will one-shot you after a

Know what's fun though? On the maps that let you play as an Officer or Commander, I just use the provided pistol.

Makes things interesting and rather fun since it's sort of iconic of seeing an officer leading men and armed with just a revolver or semi-auto.

Yeah I do seem to get clubbed to crap by them bots often.... even when I get the first blow on them, then seem to be able to get a good shot off on me so that I black out to death while they do the same...... other times they club me first, I club them as I slowly die..... then they club me again

Oh well... it's a challenge. :D

Really!?
Can I have your game then please? My game's compliment of AI seemed to have all been lobotomised, must have been an error in my disc; I'd love to play with your AI team!

The AI is dreadful, it doesn't know whether it's coming or going. It ignores a lot of commands/orders/common sense. And has a wonderful habit of getting itself stuck in/on things
