The converter is not recommended, is better redo all the work from scratch.

UE2.5 is subtractive UE3 additive (Has subtractive option but forget about it). Staticmeshes needs a second UV channel for the lightmap (with appropriate UV layout to avoid shadow bleeding and seams). Quite sure the scale wont match... and so on.

The time needed to fix a converted map is not worth it imo.

I did a quick search into this a few days ago. Apparently you can copy and paste brushes from old UED to the new one without any major issues.

However, everything else has to be recreated.

I'm doing a 1x1 scale of KF-BioticsLab as practice. It's doin meh - getting used to how UDK handles slowly but surely.

Whenever I copy and paste the brushes, my UDK crashes. Running Dx11 64-bit btw if that helps.

it would be very helpful to just be able to copy the general layout 1x1 (even if it wasn't textured), but with the new game you would probably want to spice it up with all the new toys in the SDK.

Fortunately UE3 is what im most experienced in so cant wait to get the assets required for KF2!!

There are ways to recreate previous maps but like suggested not advisable.

There is so much more potential in the new editor so just have fun!

I've actually used the UT3Converter before for converting UT99's Morpheus to KF and converting a custom map for UT2004 to UT3. It works very well but it isn't flawless, but it can sure as hell save a lot of time porting maps over.

Best way is to just create a mesh out of the brushwork and export any important meshes for reference. Direct ports are always so ugly it's worth the effort to do a remake with kf2s art assets.

You have to remember when you copy from ue2.5 to ue3 the scaling will be different because they use different measurements. so you will have to scale (down) i believe on the brushes you port.
