Aztec Empire Mod

Fyi, the teaser one is the old trailer and this movie will depict a theory on how the mayan empire disappeared, and I believe the Aztecs will be conquering/taking over or some other amerindian tribe in central america. This movie also takes place hundreds of years before the spanish came, and by that time aztecs ruled on most mayan locations, I think, I'm no scholar. It should be probably the first time we get to see a culture depicted on the big screen before the spanish came in central america.

The high-res player models are ready (and then some -- I now have over 30 individual warrior types modeled.) Also many buildings are ready, (still need to UV map some, but they work.) I will make low res player models and if Tripwire upgrades RO to UT2007, can make normal maps from the hi ones.

Here's a sample:

I hope you all can help me get started. I don't want to change much of the basic functionality of the game, most changes will be cosmetic.

When I get proficient I can make it fancy, but for now as I'm learning I really want to keep it simple and make changes like these:

- Artwork and music will change, but the menu choices will be similar.
- I'll change the point values for kills and objectives, but the basic scoring system will be the same.
- Player models will be Aztecs and Spaniards instead of Germans and Russians.
- Weapons will be those available in 1520.

I was able to modify the SPFramework for UT2004. I can code enough to get started. I can model, texture, and animate. I tried to modify the Mod version of RO but couldn't get ucc.exe to compile any of the .uc files. Rather than reinvent the wheel I want to just build off Ostfront and make my mod. My first goal is a simple mod with custom artwork and music (this I know how to do in UT) with three simple maps (which are ready).

Can someone show me step by step what to do to set up for this?

What files do I need to create to mod Ostfront and have it show up in Steam so I can playtest it?

What does the most basic file structure look like?

I've read the thread Six_ten, and my offer for concept art (pencil and paper) still stands.:)

Though I'm not sure where i could be used. Perhaps if you want me to design a loading screen or if there's not enough historical evidence for weapons ect then I'm sure i could design some.

Buildings and so forth can also be done.:)

Ok thank you Jono, you're on! Loading screens would be really nice. You can use the soldier images at http://gregsandor.tripod.com/MxMil.htm (click the thumbnail for larger view)
and the buildings at http://gregsandor.tripod.com/MxArch.htm as source materials for inspiration. I have hundreds of references for this world, so if theres a detail you'd like to see, or the original Aztec art, let me know. For now, lets see what you come up with for a cool loading screen that sets the tone for the battle about to begin.
