Honestly Killing Floor 2 is one of the best survival co-op that I have seen in the recent years. This game has great artwork, KILLER soundtrack, good theme and frickin good co-op gameplay (apart from a few bugs encountered now and then). Why is KF2 generating so little gamers' interest? Most of the time there are only around 1000-1500 players in-game. Hell even Pay Day 2 (basically zeds with guns) has 18k-20k players in-game most of the time. This game deserves so much more love.

Shrek love.

- Not enough content to keep players interested for long time (Early Access)
- Payday 2 is a complete game

Actually PD2 on DW is pain in the ***. So big even, that its not even worth playing. Its not challenging like HoE, its just not worth the hassle. Its like CoD: WaW on Veteran x100.

I always see a lot of full servers in Brazil. I don't know about others, but here we always have at least 6 or 7 servers and a lot of players every night.

Content creation times.

Whatever you make of that term. Whether you use it to analyze and defend Tripwire or you use it to bash at them and complain with it. It doesn't matter.

The game is updated at an extreme slow pace it hurts the player population big time. I know my 30 hours a week playtime in May lost it's zero digit by August. The InD update was nice, but again now that was about one and a half months ago.

Way I see it the plan spans at least a year or two past this current point, possibly more than that so it's like a momentum-gathering phase while the people doing the work get a kind of long-term rhythm going. Also marketing has been okay but in my opinion hasn't been very far reaching outside of the niche PC gaming markets and websites. I figure that's also gaining momentum though, tying in to the fact that development is to span years.

Then there's all the variables which muddle the numbers; For example I would like to play some KF2 today but cannot, as I moved into a new place yesterday and do not have access to the PC or internet. Then there's people waiting for more content or release (many people by default will not buy until it is v1.0) and the cherry on top is it's a challenging and different game, one where newer players will experience death quite a lot, potentially wiping progress on a 40-minute game.

Point is, plenty of good reasons for this! Like I say, I'd be among those playing if it wasn't for my current living situation!

Main thing is the player population doesn't need to be all that high as long as it doesn't disappear. Give it a year before we make any bolder statements, but I expect to come back and play a dozen hours every major update for as long as TWI keeps making them

Idk did it decrease recently? I, along with all of my real life and steam friends, stopped playing shortly after incinerate and detonate due to the corner camping thing that everyone always does on HOE. It's just not fun at all, and the game could also use a balance patch for demo because he's simply worse than all the other classes aside from his nuke which needs 25 and is based on praying for the RNG to give you zed time when you need it.
All this game needs is a few changes for it to be a straight upgrade from KF1 and it's in the right direction, but in over a month we have seen no word of a balance patch or a fix to corner camping. If they're going to take this long to fix it due to whatever problems they're having, they could at least acknowledge somewhere in their WWAUT posts saying that they realize it's a problem and it will be fixed with some future update. The fact that I haven't seen anything from them about fixing these issues and they're only saying things about new content makes me think they're just oblivious to the problems in their game. At this point I'm more upset with the lack of communication on their part than the amount of time that it's taking to get fixed.

Don't worry, they also took 4 months to fix the zed teleporting. I'm sure the current issues will also be addressed at some point. Although they at least acknowledged the teleport thing..

I'm sorry but I never see a game with so much changes on Early Access. I have EA games that have almost no update in years!

Since the launch we have 3 more maps, 2 more perks, at least 5 new weapons, a LOT of changes on zeds mechanics, changes on PhysX and a LOT of rebalanced things.

If you really think this is a bad pace, probably you think Ferrari have slow cars too (i'm kidding mate, don't get me wrong)...

Am I satisfied? Of course not lol! We are never satisfied. I want my god dammed Sharpshooter, more levels, gunslinger, etc. But still that, I think it's a very good job. A fast one.

Of course I'm not comparing to those Early Access titles that was a money grab and left unfinished. But with Tripwire we knew that they will create a great game for us in time. And it's happening, yes. I love Tripwire's work with this game. But it is taking months and that's a long time. I went to university since release. That's a huge damn change, which creates the feeling that development time has been going on for ages. That was just an example, but I hope I could explain this phenomen right :D The point is people would want to give this game to be finished 5 minutes, max. Anything longer than that is really long. Just like you said yourself. And some people are not so understanding of Tripwire's reasons as to why this game takes months to finish and they just up and leave.
Which is one of the main reasons for the topic at hand. Of course there may be some other factors too.

Low number of stages, and the fact that is it virtually impossible to compile a fun HoE game outside of a private server where everyone agrees to kite.

Perk balance issues as well; some perks make the game too easy, while others are too underpowered to be fun and effective with.

I honestly touch the game maybe once a mouth.
I still play KF1 at times... if i can find a good fun server :|

Also plz dont compare KF with PD, both games are completely different in play style.

Killing Floor 2 is the kind of game that will maintain a small but dedicated following for many years to come. It's fundamentally re-playable. If you like the actual gameplay, rather than being addicted to skinner box linear progression and comically unaware of yourself.

The players you see leaving are playing for the wrong reasons anyway and you wouldn't want them on your team in the first place.

Only think I worry about is the company's bottom line, but I don't think they'll have any issues.

Easy to play, but harder to grasp and excel at. Repetitive. Many people play to the highest level and quit. Severely unbalanced and problematic, currently. A lot of people are fed up with the way things are and waiting for updates.

Natural Selection 2 deserves much love, but it's almost dead.

Supreme Commander 2 deserves much love, but it's dead.

Dystopia deserves much love, but it's dead.

Meanwhile COD, Starcraft, and LOL/DOTA are going strong.

People prefer the dumber games sometimes.

Starcraft isn't going strong. It's crashing into flame because it sold out its niche aspect to try and appeal to casual players. SC2 would have lasted if Blizzard was aware that there's a die hard RTS community that maybe isn't very wide, but very dedicated. And the "MOBAification" of starcraft dumbed down the game and made this community feel betrayed.

Now KF always was easy to play/grindable game, that allowed you not to play for months then enjoy coming back. It's a "blow off steam after work" or/and "grind to the limit" game, and isn't competitive.
And I love it for that.

On Hard, yes. On Suicidal, sort of. On HoE it's not necessarily competitive in the PvP sense, although you do compete for score, so it's kind of "arcade" competitive, but it's for sure stressful enough and requires pretty good skill and at least reaction time from everyone playing, if not teamwork, to complete.

I am fine with updates taking a while when they are good, more or less bug free and add new or better gameplay then bevor. The IdD Content patch was definitely of that sort, but what i dont get is that they dont balance it. Some quick adjustments would really be appriciated, like:

- Medic giving armor while health at 100%. I still think this is a bug, no?
- Some adjustments to Demo like additional nades per Level and simultanious Detonation of C4 would be so usefuel. (and easy to implement I Imaging)
This adjustments would nerf both Medic and Berserker, which are imo op at the Moment and buff demo a Little.
I actually really enjoy playing demo, but he is weak and it's just frustrating to wait so long for the next update, when a few minor adjustments could help already.
Additional nades is a desicion up to the development Team, although i dont see why not, but the C4... I'm pretty sure they even stated the two modes at some point.
