The chat message facility doesn't work between different windows and it means you often lose chat messages while in the middle of typing. This happens to me every day.
For example, while in the lobby waiting for others to join you might type a sentence. If everyone is ready sometime while you're typing, it's too bad. The game starts and you lose everything you typed.
Could it be a suggestion to somehow "never" lose what you're typing?
When you next press 'Y' (or other bound key) that the last sentence typed comes back (like a draft). You can always hit ESC if you decided not to use it.
