I'm just thinking out loud here. But I was wondering if Australian forces will be featured in Rising Storm.
Australia and it's territory's played a massive role in the Pacific war and was involved in some of the most ferocious fighting experienced by any troops during ww2. I wont go into to much detail as of yet but I'm more than happy to post sources, quotes and references explaining Australian involvement, battles, campaigns etc....

Thank you.

"Rising Storm will cover the famous island-hopping campaigns in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945 as the US Army and Marine Corps fight it out with the Imperial Japanese Army and Special Naval Landing Forces."

It seems not. But who knows, maybe the team that is working on Rising Storm will continue working and add the British, Australian, and other allied nations to the game. I doubt that anybody has forgotten the role that they played in the Pacific war.

I would say it's unlikely. I don't know the exact intended development time, but from what I've heard, it wouldn't be enough to do any additional nations, considering the number of additional weapons, models and sounds that it would require. Doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see it, but I don't think it'll happen.

I'm afraid Chook here is right. Nice though it would be to have Aussies in RS, there is just so much content needed to bring in an additional nation that having Australia in the initial game would throw our release schedule into the next decade.

If we had a sudden rush of extra bodies, all top-notch modellers, character artists and mappers and all willing to work night and day, then we might be able to do that.

But, realistically, to maintain the quality that RO:HoS deserves and you guys both expect and deserve, we have to stay focussed with the resources we have.

We are getting together a class team and you will hear more about them soon, but we have our work cut out for us already.

Could just make "Commonwealth Forces" as the Brits, Aussies, and anyone else.

Just a matter of doing a couple of extra skins for the Aussies and done
The AfterHourz boys on the mod team will do as their pros.
I guess you never saw their work on Operation Barbarossa :)

Models, skins, voices, code, weapons, animations for those weapons, sound effects for those weapons, icons, research.

We have 2 AHz guys on the team - both in the level design area.

Although we do have 2 Aussies on the code team, but that doesn't really count, I guess. :|

It looks like our expansion / mod team

Needs a modding team.

In order to do The Commonwealth forces. In a war that we've all seen before I think it was a bit silly to take the most portrayed sides (well Japanese kinda had to be in) to begin with.

You're right - what the game really needs is rare scenarios - Italians vs Greeks for example...

Bit limited in terms of battles that can be recreated, and in the kit that can be used but at least all the ww2 elitists can have that extra sense of superiority from playing a battle that most people didn't know even happened.

Servers might be a bit empty, mind, but nothing will take away from that special feeling.

Apart from the abominations that Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault and BF 1942, what are you referring to? I haven't seen any FPS games tackle the Pacific Theater besides the two I mentioned. And btw, neither of those games have done it right.

How could you forget COD WAW. They really got close to reality with the Pacific Theatre version of that game.
They had Japs and Americans and the Japanese taunts sounded like an episode of Shogun.

 I forgot about WAW, which I haven't played. I've only seen some videos and didn't like what I saw because it was well, COD.

There are a lot of opinions about COD and it's lack of realism. Some won't even play simply because its COD.
To make a good opinion and maybe learn from it amd post a comment on it, I even play these kind of games.

So I played an affull lot of COD WAW. I joined servers ripped of the tanks, the endless packs of vicious dogs, numerous enemy recon plane and every minute arty as they ruined the game for me.

Whats left was a nice game where i prefered to play Capture the flag. When we drop the realism factor they did a good job on some of the levels. They ran smooth and they did a nice job hiding the fact they used very low poly models.

Lately I play the latest Medal of Honor. :IS2:

Other modders are more than welcome to add Australians to RS after release. Ask nicely and you might even get some help...

As far as doing it officially though, it's just too much work. We already have a long list of things to do and a very specific timeframe to get them done in. There just isn't the capacity for adding Australian forces, even though it's something that's close to my heart.
