Alright. My goal here is not to be a whiner, not to complain, but to introduce something that's bothered me since I first played this game. I'm not intending to come across as an asshole even though some of the below may be taken that way. I'm doing this not to pick on the game/developers, but because I like this game and would like to see some changes implemented.

Anyway.

Ever since my friend recommended me the game and I purchased it, I've always had something about it bothering me. It's ugly. Not that kind of ugly, I'm aware that killing zombies isn't supposed to look like walking through a field of flowers. I mean, it appears to me that dedication has went into making the game fun and balanced, but no so much aesthetically pleasing. I'm referring to the visual attractiveness aspect. Compare it to this, this game is a kick-*** v8 Thunderbird with the bumpers being held on with duct tape.

If you don't have a clue what I'm talking about, let me list a few small examples. To make sure I don't seem petty, I would like to inform you that this is not all of my examples, just a few to conserve time while conveying a message.

Here's a small one I picked up quickly.

When the demolitions perk was added, the icon was apparently not rendered to be transparent.

As you can see here, I have my HUD set to be furthest from opaque.

Now, in the following you will notice that the demolitions perk icon will not display with any transparency

I know it's small, but you would think that "skilled and professional" developers would pick up on even small details. (I know I sound like a jerk, excuse me)

That's not all, I'm not that picky. This one was a much more blatant and easy one.

It seems that custom trader textures do not work with the portal core traders, this one seems a bit hard to miss. These were taken on hospitalhorrors.

I've found various clipping issues. Instead of making a list I just went and searched a bit. Found this one recently on westlondon.

For those who don't see it, the wall is going through the door. If this was the only one, I wouldn't complain. But I see tons of this petty stuff in the game. It seems like the developers just got lazy putting the finishing touches on it.

Also, there's really something that bothers me. Ever played a custom map and on one of the walls, the creator just blatantly put his contact details/screen name/etc? You know, crediting yourself in the map? It's annoying a lot of the time, but tolerable for modders. In games however, the developers have a certain section (IT'S CALLED CREDITS) where they credit themselves, in this case, under the picture of the map (you know, where it says made by Tripwire etc). Granted this isn't very obtrusive, and I've played maps for source games where people in huge font put their email addresses on walls, but still
killingfloor20110412185.png

I think in-game areas are best left without credits.

Yes, I am obsessive compulsive. No, these are not my only examples. This game has numerous typos (for example, on http://www.killingfloorthegame.com/xmas/ it says "Christmas pecials" instead of specials) and these details listed seem almost TOO easy to fix. I've talked to Yoshiro on steam (you might not remember it, it was around the time you were releasing codes for the ball in the ball group chat) but you seemed uninterested in fixing any of the UI issues or anything else that would make this game more... attractive per se.

Just looking for a response from the devs, whether it's "Shut the hell up, it's our game, you don't have to play it" or "This is noted and considered". Other than that, I do have some problems with sharpshooter being overnerfed (No one plays it anymore, this should be a sign that it's absolutely useless now) and other balance issues. I also know a handful of exploits (they might be fixed with recent updates etc).

That's about it.

Edit:
These are not my only examples guys, I just picked a few. Maybe not the best ones. They were easily apparent at the time.
Just trying to say that KF could use a polishing update to fix some of these small problems. It doesn't even have to be a separate update, for instance, valve includes a lot of small bugfixes over time with big feature updates. I don't see this type of support on Killing Floor as much as I would like to.

tldr:
List of a few examples of small things that could be easily fixed. If you're looking for posts that suggest completely modifying game balance, adding a bunch of new weapons, classes, or specs, you wont find it here.

If you don't intend to come across as an asshole, don't make yourself sound like an asshole then.

I mean, it appears to me that dedication has went into making the game fun and balanced, but no so much aesthetically pleasing. I'm referring to the visual attractiveness aspect.

This is why people still play older games. Because they're good, not because they look nice.

I know it's small, but you would think that "skilled and professional" developers would pick up on even small details. (I know I sound like a jerk, excuse me)

If you don't want to sound like a jerk, don't word it like that. Just because you acknowledge you're sounding offensive doesn't mean that any offensiveness is disregarded.

Dopefish.

Valve has done silly posters and credits with alot of their CS maps. They're called easter eggs. The poster was funny so I don't really see any problem with a bit of Comedy.

Other than that, I do have some problems with sharpshooter being overnerfed (No one plays it anymore, this should be a sign that it's absolutely useless now)

No one plays it anymore because you don't dominate everything anymore and you rely on your teamates for survival. Whoops, that incorporates co-operation. People should be able to solo everything!

As for the UI stuff, small stuff gets overseen all the time, especially when you're adding a bunch of stuff. It is a bit silly that they havn't fixed it in all this time though but frankly, as you said before, Gameplay > Cosmetics.

ok, i see where you're coming from, it think the reason that maps have credits in them is that they weren't all made by tripwire, and as to the clipping issues, almost all games ever made have similar issues, you just have to look for them.

as to the demo icon, yeah, that should be fixed but it probably isn't a priority right now.

although i do agree the SS was a tiny little bit overnerfed for higher difficulties... but it's better than it was.

I suppose the poster isn't a big deal, and like I said it's not obtrusive.

However it seems throughout the game I can point out multiple instances of disregard to detail (those are not my only examples, but making a comprehensive list of everything would be too time consuming) which in a later patch could be easily tied-in etc. It needs some polish, that's really all I'm saying.

Also, no, especially in comparison to zerker and support specialist, sharpshooter is weak. It was definitely overpowered but now it (and commando, although not as bad) are underpowered.

There are still a good number of people that play Sharpshooter. You just can't spam bodyshots with the M14 and x2 hand cannons and expect everything to fall down anymore.

Besides that and perhaps trying to word things different. That way you don't need to keep saying "I'm not an asshole, BUT *insert poorly worded statement*."

Other than those two, it really wasn't a bad post. I can understand those little details annoying you as far as "immersion" goes.

Hospital Horrors is actually a custom map though. That's why you have the "Fleshpounding" poster as well as the issue with the custom traders the map uses. You shouldn't find that texture issue on the default traders.

Well, that was made by JustFilth, and he is/was entitled to have a credits page in an unobtrusive section as an "easter egg" to reward those that playtested the map.

You say it's tolerable for modders to have these easter eggs, and your example is from modders. Would logic follow that you then tolerate the easter egg on Hospital Horrors?

HH wasn't always a stock map, it was once just custom content. However it won a competition and here it is, stock content. As was everything that isn't based on the KFMod 2005 maps.

I'm not going to repeat what the others are saying.

But if you really get hung on elements like that in a game then you are going to struggle finding a game that is up to your standards. Hell, just head over to the SteamForums and check out the thread on Crysis2 textures.

At the end of the day I'm too busy trying to keep ZEDs from repurposing my face as a tea cosey to go looking or even notice things as small as that. Just kick back and enjoy this game, one of the last examples of non-cookie cutter dross.

I would fix things like this (door clipping, textures, etc. I'm fine with the poster as a fun easter egg), if I were in their position, because tiny things bug the hell out of me, but it's perfectly understandable why you wouldn't. Besides - things like these don't actually get in the way of the game at all. You wouldn't have any more fun, you wouldn't be even more glad you purchased Killing Floor, etc.

Really, the only time people -care- about the demolitions symbol not being transparent, is when they've just bought the game and are trying it for the first time. You'd have to be EXTREMELY shallow to say "Well, that door looks funny, and this 40x40 icon doesn't match too well, so this is a horrible waste of money which doesn't deserve more than 30 minutes of my time."

Fix the typos and such whenever you feel like it, TWI. Or never. I'll enjoy Killing Floor either way.

Attention A_Killing_Floor_Player: Don't beg for attention in your thread title.

Token on-topic contribution: The trader's face appearing on the sides of GLaDOS's cores is a bit creepy but will go away in a few days' time, things like that poster are fine as long as they're unobtrusive, and the rest are minor issues that are vaguely irritating but, funnily enough, extremely low priority next to the mountain of other work with which the developers are already preoccupied.

you missed one of the most important things that just make me giggle for how silly it is:

when you change sights with flashlight on the flashlight moves out of place a little too far to the left.

ROFL (respectively)

come on tripwire.
Are you ****ting me? SOmehow i got the feeling most of the new players don`t even play the game, they just search for bugs, glitches etc. and then they go to the Forums and whine about it. Real man can enjoy a Mutant killing game even with small bugs / glitches. Now slaughter some Mutants like youre supposed to be.

They were what........10 guys?
This game was not intended to be pristine.
Nor does it really need to be. As you picked up on; TWI have focussed more on making the game fun and playable.

And that's all there is to it. Way too late in the game's lifetime to consider a massive graphical overhaul. At a stretch it might be considered some time down the line after RO2 is released, since that's what their primary concern is at the moment.

Most of these mistakes are far too pedantic to even bother sorting anyway. I'll wager you sitting and searching each map with a fine toothed comb for mistakes to be a massive waste of your time.

Good effort, but I can't see anything being done about it.

Edit: Didn't see if it was mentioned, but that poster isn't in-game credits. That is a community map and the creators (JustFilth and Gusone?) offered that easter egg mention as a prize to the team who could pull off the best finished suicidal game on their map.
