2)Yes, one of the first versions, thats what gave me hope that by now the mod
would be much more polished.
3) BF2 is currently most played
4) I dont remember where i recently heard about the official release, but being i've played it before
5) Again, i figured the game must be at a good stable version to be considered
for an official boxed version.

I can't help but feel the fanboys frothing at the mouth waiting for that first chance to pounce on someone and charge them with the fact they can't handle realism. In fact, it's what this pole feels like its trying to accomplish, and that has been the hype and defense since this phase of the mod started and the hype machine got rolling... I've seen when people complain about the framerate, fanboys saying "What do you expect, its an old engine", Completely clueless to the fact that todays hardware WELL passes the specs needed to run the engine, thers a problem with the game , not everyones PC.. Like i said, you can convince some people some of the time that a piece of dog**** tastes good, but you're not gonna convince me, i have the ability to think for myself.

for all you disappointed... I have always been playing arcade style games (CS, UT2k4:ONS) ... belive me that I was not very happy when started playing MOD... I gave chance to this because first impression is not necessarily the right one... this game is too different from others in term of game style.... after about month of playing it I fall in love with it... just try to get used to it. I belive that graphic could suprise you badly...BUT only because you compare with new-gen games like CoD2... and that is big mistake... I think tbh this game has nice graphics and the fact is that it just surprised you...

The biggest problems of these days is that there are many many new games with wonderful graphics and absolutely shity gameplay... now you have received game with let's say average graphics (from your point of view) and great gameplay ... and you complain... just get over problems that you have... try to be little bit patient because all problems can be solved and you can enjoy this game. And when it happens that you will not like this game - than OK and BYE... it is for sure that this game is not for everybody... because it prefer quality over eye-candy...

don't you think that problem can be somewhere else than necessarily in RO? How is that that I am able to run this game smooth and well on AthlonXP 2.6Ghz, 1GB RAM and gf4200Ti... 30 fps in average, 1024*768, high details... there were so many screenshots before release, some game footages by beta players and you complain about fact that people are surprised with graphics... I think that the stupidity of some people is just expressed many times on forums now... and we all could expect this phase1-big hype before release; phase2-disappointment; phase3-reality between...

Watch your posting very carefully

Everyone better be real carefull in this thread. Constructive critizism is fine, but inflamatory posts, flaming, or just outright bitching will get you a nice time out.

There will be no second warning.

I notice you come from the dissapointed COD2 community. Me too. I think the difference is that you wanted RO to smack I.W. in the face and your dissapointed that this game doesn't really do that. I really encourage you to try this game on its own merits without comparison to COD. I love this game and am addicted to it after 3 hours, more than anygame since original BF. Part of my excitement comes from knowing that Tripwire, unlike some developers, will listen and respond to constructive criticism as quickly as they can. Stick around and help improve this game . . . its only going to get better!

Right now, even the vet's (the ones who did not play the beta) are now learning to "ride the bike again", I feel lost and a bit confused simply because its the first time I'm playing these new map's, many which look far different from the mod version. So it will take time to get used the new boots the dev's gave us.

Yes, I'll say that the tanks do get stuck easy, and are a bit tricky to drive at that (havent got the hang of the trottle... the only way I can stop within 6 feet is to switch positions... is there a way to cut the trottle from 100 to 0 at once??)

And I cant find the bind's for vehicles either...
Otherwise, I'm liking it so far (especially the tank killer's, not much armor, but fast reloads... sweet)

I know quite a few who have ahd graphics issues. One problem a guy had was he was using a DVI set-up for his monitor and RO REALLY didn't like that. He switched back to analog and fiddled around and now it's smooth as silk.

To those with graphics issues; please don't get fed up and leave immediately. Try and sort the issues out and if need be talk to the community here to get it worked out.

Dislike

Dislike

1. How old are you?

27

2. Did you play the UT2k4 mod version of RO? If so, since which version?

No. Never like UT so never wanted to spend money on it.

3. What is your favourite FPS?

Day of Defeat: Source

4. Where did you hear about RO?

Day of Defeat forums. Watched the trailer on Steam.

5. Why did you decide to purchase RO?

Looked like everything I wish DoD:S could have been.

6. AMD 2000+, ATI 9700 Pro, 1GB RAM, .5 TB HDD space, SB Audigy Z2 running at 1024 x 768.

Well, I had huge hopes for this game. I wanted strategy and realistic combat. The trailer made the game look amazing. I am completely dissapointed in it. In a world of Source Engine, Quake 4, FEAR, etc. I expected a bit more. Sure, maybe the engine is a little older but the movement and animations are terrible. Sure there is worse, but when I expected so much, it was a hard hit to the bottom. Quite frankly, the graphics are ****. Like the previous fella mentioned, the clipping and foliage coming inside the tank when you drive over it... terrible. The art, clipping, textures. Its all terrible.

The game play reminds me of BF2. No strategy, giant maps with people driving alone in tanks, no team work. Even the non tank maps sucked. There was no way to get into combat. Spawn, get picked off by sniper, spawn, run, get picked off by sniper, spawn, run, capture point, get picked off by sniper. No way to even see where the shots are coming from. I get more teamwork in DoD.

Fine, I can slow down a bit. I am too used to the fast paced action of DoD:S. I guess I should have played RO when it was a free mod to know what to expect. But that's the problem... the game is a free for all. There is no teamwork. Even if I get into it and play to win, I am all alone. As a casual gamer, I am screwed into an existence where I am forced to play with mediocre players OR against people who inflate their own egos by preying on n00bs like myself. Its just another one of those discount games being published by Steam like Space Empire IV.

Now for the good things, I love the secondary attacks, bayonets, sounds, iron sights, and stuff related to infantary. Firing a rifle and having to click again to reload. Awesome idea. Quite frankly, there are so many good ideas in this game I just pray night and day that you guys put out a RO2 on the Source engine. I would pay $100 for it. It's that good. Maybe rework some of the gameplay issues like teamwork.

I am glad to support game developers with so much enthusiasm and love for their game so the $25 was well spent, especially on a decent WW2 game. Its just not for me. I am spoiled. I want to keep up with technology rather than step back. It's too bad. This whole affair made me sad. I am worried how I will be responded to with my reply. I am trying to be honest. The screenshots and trailers were okay and its a good point, I shouldn't have expected more. I guess if you dealt with the bad clipping and terrible character animation I would be happier. I will continue playing and see if I get more into it. Perhaps I just need more time to get into it.

hradek, give the team work a bit, ROO's gameplay wont really start to show until people have learned the basics :).

A lot of stuff mentioned here about teamplay, a lot of tk's, etc. are gone when people really get to know this game. It's too new now. There are a lot of 1st timers out there. We have seen these things happen with every release of the mod. This game isn't easy and you may have second thoughts now. But get to know this game! Keep trying and it'll pay off!

couldnt have said it better myself. I guess I am just spoiled by the recent engines. I could handle the graphics if the model animations werent so bad. oh well.

In my opinion, the graphics and animations are really rather secondary. What's important to ME is the quality of the gameplay, and in my opinion that is fantastic already, and it will get better. People are newbies at this. People who play DOD:S and don't want realism will leave this game alone; this game is not going to be bought by people who don't want to work in a team.

Hold out for the newbs to either get experienced or get gone.... it will look up when that happens.

all who are missing teamwork just join or create clan... you can not expct real teamplay on public... or at least not so soon after release when so many people are getting familiar with game...

best thing to do when not in a clan is gather some friends (or make some new) and hijack a server, heck even if you have just 1 guy watching your back, teamwork will improve, thats atleast what i do on a server.

Make sure i have 1 person that will assist me, tank or infantry ...

Bingo!!! Right now most players are in a "wtf? what's going on? what am I supposed to do? what's this/how do I do that? which ones are enemies?" generally confused mode.
