I play with the max graphics my system can run.

If someone beats me with skill, I congratulate him. If someone beats me with borderline-exploit graphic settings, I frown on him and hope he realizes he could also get better and play on an even playing field.

What I'm saying is, don't worry about it. Set it to the max. Enjoy the graphics. If someone kills you because he could see you due to graphic settings - it happens. They might get more kills, but their kills are made in a game that is ugly and non-immersive. Imo you are still the winner.

Max graphics punks my system out. I set it as high as my system can handle it.
Lower graphics didn't really help much for me.

+1

This.

(this only applies to those awful individuals who use the AVT and the MKB)

On my current system I have to play at lowest settings...an trust me...there are more disadvantages then advantages. Get alot of solid black textures that block Los an such....def not an advantage in my book.

no your reading my point wrong.. im getting at the people that purposely lower their graphics to gain an advantage and then broadcast this point to others.

If your pc cant handle full spec fair enough i dont expect everyone to be able to.

Badger906, like CommieKid said, the developers should've tested it. I'm sure they'll fix it.
Gaming community's not always fair. I've played games where it was all about exploits.
I tend to just do my own thing and not buy into those silly scams.

I run with Shadows on Low and DoF, AA and Motion Blur off. My computer can run the game just fine with everything on, but I turn shadows off to provide an extra buffer just in case, and I turn DoF, AA and Motion Blur off because I don't like them.

I play the Game in medium to low graphics settings because I have to. You wan't me to play in Ultra? Send me a computer that can play the game in Ultra.

This. I run medium as well, but would much rather play in ultra. I even have to use a medium resolution as well. Back to pixelhunting. Feels just like the old days.

Actually lowest settings has lower draw distance, not a good thing for a tank commander. I was like wtf when enemy tank repeatedly shot from where I could barely (by barely I mean BARELY) see his silhouette. And then I switched to medium spec... Less laggy too!

I sometimes get weird half drawn objects on medium as well. Just one or two, like a fence or a truck, usually around spawn.

I find the game unplayable with, for example, no AA, because of the moments in which you have to aim your weapon at 150+ meters.

As for textures, etc, I play the game on high, and I see really no point in lowering graphic settings. I would understand if someone did that in a competition, but playing is supposed to be for fun. Also, from what I remember from my MoHAA, exploiting game graphics/options on clan wars, competitions, etc, is not only frowned uppon, but also forbidden (If anyone played it, I think you remember people exploiting the German snow uniform for them to be easier to spot ).

If things are the same, then there's really no justifiable reason to exploit the graphics, if you're playing the game for fun.

I do well with having all my settings on high. Only problem is every populated server is laggy enough for me that I have a bullet delay. That doesn't stop me from playing well, but it's annoying.

This I played ro1 for a few years barely able to run it (yes I had a weak comp for that). Many people just can't pump up to max graphics and if running low graphics gives anyone some type of edge(which I doubt it does). Its not the players fault in any way the "so called advantages" should be removed or fixed by the delvs.

It's not fair you get a good fps while I play on low-med and still don't have a constant fps. I demand you get inconsistent fps!

Mmm, I will fix my post. By view distance I ment fog of war and it does effect gameplay. All the objects are drawn (very simplified though) making it a bit easier to tell where the enemy is (player models are more complex than monotonous walls of lowest res). Also, without sun glare and light effects, its easier to spot enemy in "shadows" because they dont exist for low spec player, on the other side though, he doesnt know where to hide and it makes no difference if the enemy is in a sunny area or not. Grass becomes non-existent and its easier to lay prone there as it doesnt obscure your view. Another advantage is when you get real close to the bush (about 2m, you dont have to be inside of it) it almost dissapears, which is quite useful.

p.s. Still, playing on lowest spec sux. Not only it lags more (at least on my PC) it also has some bugs (some objects are invisible, it makes things worse for a player as you constantly bump into them and try to shoot enemy behind them without penetrating the "invisible cover"). And the game is much more enjoyable with med spec where light and shadow becomes important part of a game.

I don't understand why people would get angry at those who play on lower settings. Maybe if the game didn't run like complete garbage, I wouldn't have to. If there is anyone to blame, it would be the developers.

I think the point is that you shoudlnt be penalized for playing on highest settings either.
This is a reoccurring event across pretty much all the games(ever played Arma?). Instead of making that bush look like crap on lower graphics, we're going to remove it fully. And so a high end system user is laying behind awesome looking full bush, thinking he'll be safe from enemy los, and BAM taken out in one shot by a low end system user because there is no bush.

There has to be middle-ground, neither one of these users have to be punished for their systems.
Why should a low end user suffer because he didnt waste all his money into a computer in last 2 years, when generally he changes it every 4 years?
By same token, why should the person who paid top dollar for his system, to enjoy the video game (for which he paid as well) be penalized inadvertently for running game at optimal settings it was meant to be ran at?

Like someone said, it's a problem of devs, in the end, because they should've left that bush in first place, and make the texture look like crap, but at least it would still cover it.
In perfect scenario, low end would see huge bush all green one blob of texture, while high end, would see wonderful bush, with moving leafes, full of beautiful textures, and sunrays, but neither one of them would see the person on the other side!
