So that makes me kind of worried when they go off on how they're gonna add underwater combat when they can't even bring the infantry combat, vehiclular handling and flight-model up to a reliable polished level. It's a very wide, but not particularly deep experience.

This is exactly how I feel. They should just focus on the infantry and ground vehicles for now. The lack of 3D scopes and the instant switching between the different sights has to go. It feels very dated and kills immersion and realism.

Less sliding tanks, work on some armor modeling, ect. RO2 detailed tanks would be good enough.

Still no 3D scopes it looks as if switching to the different optics is instant. I was really hoping for it to be like RO2 in these areas.

Still early and didn't they originally state somewhere that it would feature redone weapon sights and optics? I was hoping I didn't just see that in my head and wished it had been true.

Again though still early and it may just not be pushed to the version they were showing.

I would hope they redo the sighting systems. That is one of the most annoying things about the series. You'd think by 2011 3D scopes would be a standard feature in games.

Pff you are going to buy that upgraded computer to play HOES. Do you deny planning to buy this computer? HERESY!

I'm not gonna buy it because I'm not gonna be rich.

And I have hopes that TWI do a decent job at optimizing the game to work well in my current PC, so I don't expect it to be necessary. However, I don't have the same expectations for Bohemia, because my computer still struggles with ArmA1.

Even if it was necessarily to upgrade for HOES... an upgrade to a moderately modern system would probably be more than enough to max RO2 nicely... but If I wanted to move ArmA 3, I estimate that I'd need an extremely expensive Crossfire together with a ultraclocked modern i7 CPU with all sorts of weird cooling systems.

ArmA1 is a really bad example of game optimization. ArmA 2 and Operation Arrowhead run much better on low budged computers.

Weird as it was pretty much exactly the opposite for me. ArmA1 ran reasonably well, ArmA2 almost gave me eye cancer.

As for that (old) ArmA3 presentation: The new ragdoll physics on players looks nice, the vehicle/object physics look very unfinished and not like something that should've been shown already as it seems unprofessional.

Arma2:OA is much better optimized. I can't run Arma2 to save my life, but Arma2: OA is runs smoothly. Then again, there isn't much vegetation, which is probably one reason it runs well.

So will this actually be a game with a story and some deep exciting missions making the most of all that different terrain and scale?

Well it looks like nothing has changed in the weapon handling animations dept.

Crouch, get up, lower your gun, step to the left, crouch again, aim your weapon.
That isn't what I'd call smooth.

God, I love how people fail to listen.

They stated during the video that the new animations are not yet implement and are using the old arma2 animations as placeholders.
