Console Apex predators getting stuck in place when colliding with certain objects

So this happened a couple of times during my playthrough. While I was fighting the Apex Alligator, as it dashed for me once, it went up onto land and got lodged between two piers making it effectively stuck. This allowed me the ability to attack it freely and defeat without having to run away, but still pretty sure this is not how the game was intended to work. Then, while fighting the Sperm Whale, same thing happened, except the sperm whale collided with the ground underwater and suddenly became stuck in place. This is on an Xbox One S with latest patch (1.0.7).

This is still happening. I beat the apex orca this way cause it was stuck out of the pool. I've also seen makos beached on the sand and on piers. Poor things can't put up a fight. Note it happens on PS4 and PS4 Pro as well.
