U.K.
Surely the fact you need to run back to the ammo cache in order to smoke the area properly shows up the fact that there's not enough troopers with smoke grenades on your team?

I still think upping SL to 2 smokes and giving a smoke to Elite Riflemen (and Elite Assault if it ever returns) would help a lot more with tactics in this game.

Nothing wrong with that tactic.

But i have mine. The only negative point is that nobody reads
during gaming my messages.

The written messages should be as in ROost, coloured....
The whole chat-functionality in RO2 is a big fail, ROOST was not very good in that, but RO2 is even worse.

It's a fair tactic... mostly because why would you smoke the bridge? that just puts your own men at risk and leaves the germans in a better position. Never throw smoke where your team is advancing as it just means they're advancing blindly through smoke and into a bullet of a well entrenched enemy that can see. Throw smoke at the ground level windows and at the sandbags between the two points

Can't say I ever had a problem..... they don't know which direction you're coming from, be that the bridge, through the river, around the wall, through the centre, to the other side of the bridge, via the river..... if you do it the moment you spawn and rush in.... by the time the germans climb out of the windows to take the position, we're already there and in the smoke..... I cover the doorway leading to the park and get ready to grenade the window above if I need to..... everybody else focuses on the other windows and main street..... cap.

It's a little more difficult once the germans are setup, but still doable.... if you clear out all the germans in the smoke, the rest of their team can't see that they're all wiped out and thus a delay in reinforcements to the cap sometimes.

Nothing wrong with it in my opinion. Of course, if I was the German then I might consider putting a LMG down at the other end of the road there and spraying fire into the smoke while the other troopers toss nades into the smoke from that row of buildings just past the bridge.

There's sandbags all around covering that angle of attack, which I take cover behind most times... so if you can toss the grenades through the smoke and properly past the sandbags.... be my guest ;)

I do sometimes keep a very close eye on those windows to pick off any heads bobbing around, while hanging along the edge of the smoke.

I think presently the amount of smoke nades is quite sufficient. The problem lies in the fact that so few players use them even if they are playing a class that is equipped with them. Or that they simply throw them in the wrong places.

It's fair, considering any competent german team can easily block the first two objs for all the needed time to get a lockdown victory.

danzig days are back.

The smoke isn't entirely a disadvantage for the Axis anyway, if they know what they're doing.

have done exactly the same thing myself as russian commander on Apartments, never really considered it a special tactic just the best way of getting additional smokes - running in and out of the resupply building like a loon and lobbing smokes over the bridge.

Solid tactic. Use it.

Besides I'll be lurking in that smoke as german rifleman swinging that loveable bayonet around;)

Picky, picky, picky.
Believe me, if you have a microphone you are usually no better off. It seems most people don't speak English, mute their speakers, or simply think this is a run and gun game.

Ok how is resupplying a secret. People would have to be really stupid to not know they can resupply their things.

When I play Apartments, I'm usually Russian unless the Germans are out numbered... and when I play as Russian on Apartments I usually pick the Commander class because not many seem to bother using that class on Apartments it seems.

Now, usually when I play Russian on Apartments, we win more than we lose and I'm wondering if it's due to this tactic I use when starting to attack the first two caps past the bridges......

I usually head right to Cap A, order everybody to attack there first. I then pop both my smoke grenades to cover just before the bridge, the other on the bridge, then I run into the ammo resupply in the building to my right, grab two more smoke grenades and toss those two past the bridge and the other directly in the cap zone..... giving my team a lot of smoke covering their advance to Cap A and almost always we end up capping the objective very quickly. I then hold Cap A while the rest of my team runs to B and caps that, which both caps are usually taken within a couple of minutes and then the rest of the map is pretty quick and easy to take.

Is it a fair tactic for the Russian Commander to be able to use 4 smoke grenades to make it easier to take Cap A, or would it be considered a map exploit of some kind and thus, the ammo resupply should be moved somewhere else?

Keep in mind that Squad Leaders can also do this in order to get two smoke grenades right off the bat, instead of just one.

I don't read the whole thread, but it's not an exploit at all.
For some reasons I did read in the following post.

But if you have some competent SL's and commander than there can be even more smokes be thrown at key points. In your example it sounds like there actually are still some SL's not doing their job so you have to do it for them:D

I pick up Soviet team since it is often undermanned and I've better voice to play Russian commander/squad leader/soldier and I fail to see how your tactic might be unfair.

You use your first 2 grenades, then you resupply and throw them again. When I play as anti-tank class I often go to the ammo supply to get more ammo for my rifle and I don't see anything wrong with that.

Just keep up the good job, talk to your teammates and you'll see more people trying to be helpful and talking back to you and your team with useful intel. Someone needs to break the ice for some people.

i use the same tactic as a german cmdr on spartanovka when attacking the last obj(town hall). throwing 2 smokes towards the town hall, then run to the ammo crate to resupply and throw another 2.
