As for as I know I haven't seen a tutorial or guide on how to be the commander role in the game, almost every time I play everyone passes up on commander and I pick it up and try to do what I'm supposed to but I don't really know what I'm supposed to do most of the time.. i figured out how to call arty and mortar strikes etc and the plane but I'm just wondering what else there is to do as commander and what the commander should do? Thanks in advance.

I been playing commander for a while and with all the people I played with. Having a mic is the most important thing there is. Youre almost like the eyes and ears of the battlefield. You can sit in the back and spot out for enemy units foot/tanks and tell everyone else. Not only you can mark targets for arty strike but SL can too.

Most of the time people always yelling keep the recon up when its ready.
If you look on the maps there always more then 1 radio. SO of course you can fight your ways to the front lines and mark targets there for arty strike :D!

As for force respawn use it at your liking but it seems to best use it when your force is attacking an area and is low on men. Thats when you want to use it for backup. Other then that use it if the timer for respawn is really high like 15 seconds left and a lot of people 7-8+ are in queue to respawn helps.

From what I seen so far:
Have a Mic
Spot Targets
Order Squads
Recon RECON recon
Arty Strike
Force Respawn

The best thing you can do (imo) is get your Squad Leaders to mark targets for you. They are usually closer to the frontlines and can mark positions more accurately. Communication is important.

When the a SL marks a target to request arty, how do you make sure it will fire in their icon instead of one you already marked? Theirs is green I think, and you can hover over it with the mouse but clicking doesn't seem to do anything.

It's my understanding that commanders can place heavy MG 34 / maxim emplacements... But how?

Dont really know that part but I just click the arty I want then spam click the target I want thats been marked on the map and it works lol...

Maybe double click the target too before selecting the arty.

yeah just clicking a SL's target seems to work.. Ok so basically I figured everything out about commander by myself then lol cause I was doing all that stuff that you mentioned. Oh except one thing how do you give orders to squads? Just talking? Or is there an actual thing you can do?

How do you spot a target? I've never picked the commander role or SL, just curious...

As a commander, I changed the firing mode of the binoculars and apparently this other mode is used is to direct your squad to go certain places (I think this is mostly used by squad leaders), how do you specify which squad you want over there? Or be able to just give a general order? Because, at least from what I gathered (based on the onscreen text) only your squad is ordered to go there, but as a commander, you have no squad as far as I know... So I am confused...

The F key brings up the 3D widget. You can use that to tell your guys where to go with Left Mouse Button (LMB), and you can spot an artillery target with the RMB.

Also, use the B key to give orders to either the entire team, or individual squads (or your own tank, if your tanking). You hold down B to bring up the command widget - where you can specify, attack, defend each location, and some other commands. While holding down B, you scroll your mouse wheel to select which squad to command.

Some tutorial or reference material would be nice for the commander. I tried it today and I was hopeless and useless for my team.

Also when attacking in countdown, don't force a respawn when there are only few people dead. Try to wait until your whole attacking force is dead and then respawn. Then you get more bang for your buck so to speak ;)

But nobody seems to have a mic...
