Is anyone running this game well on a midrange dual core ?

Such as an Athlon II 255 (3.1Ghz with 1MB L2 cash per core)
4 gigs of ram
Nvidia 260GTX

I basically built this computer for a friend of mine using some of my old spare parts.

I want to gift him the game as there is a steam Sale going on.

BUT... I saw this game run on another friend's computer of similar specs and it ran real bad.

He had a Core2 E6850 3.0Ghz with GTS450...
As it's my buddies computer, I didn't have much time to fiddle around with it... also it was before the latest patch.

So anyone with similar dual core running the game on a mix of medium and high ?

My brother uses a Intel dual core E8400 @ 3.0 ghz and runs the game fairly well on medium settings. I'm not entirely sure if that is considered mid range though.

facepalming myself.

It's not as fast as an I3 but it is quite a bit faster then the AthlonII X2's and older core2's or Pentium Dual cores.
Mostly because that's according to me a wealthy processor with 6MB's of it.

the speed of the cpu is more important than the number of cores with this game. everything above or equal to 3ghz and 2 cores should be sufficient to run the game properly. the 260 should also be fine at a mix of high/med settings (more med than high i guess). a decent cooler for the processor and some overclocking could really improve that rigs performance. i read it's possible to bump the speed to ~3.7ghz at stock voltage by overclocking the fsb.

I have an old Q6600 quad core and a GTX560Ti. Except for no Vsync and No AA, I have everything else checked and on the highest Ultra and High settings and it runs in the green consistantly.

Pumped every thing up to default Ultra Settings...
Works well after the new patch but I'm not happy with the bloom and the extra candy shyte.
I will tune it down a little, to suit my eyes.

I have 2 systems with Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdales both running at 3.6 on stock voltage and very cool temps. .. so yes it can be done pretty easily.
One is running a stock cooler and still stays cool.

Was running the game on an Intel E6600@2.4Ghz. It was perfectly playable. There was stutter here and there, couldn't quite manage maxed out settings, but the frame rate happily stuck between 30-60fps. EDIT- This was with an ATI 4850.

- disabling useless window services
- ro2game.exe -> disable design and desktop... (dont know the english words)
- disable steam community ingame

brings up to 20FPS, rest in roengine.ini and rogame.ini

i not agree with disabling antivirus completly. most of them got an exception list (dont know the exact english phrase). turning off/on antivir (avira-dot-com) doesnt have an effect on FPS for me. might be different at other software, especially NORTON (huge Ram and CPU workload).

E8500 oc'd to 3.80ghz
HD 4890 1gb ram
3gb system ram
Auzentech prelude 7.1 sound card

I run on high shadows, low anti-aliasing, and the rest ultra. Runs like a charm. It'd probably be playable on ultra, too.
