Anybody seen the Serpent's Wall site?

Last year, I e-mailed Elena asking if she would have the time or be willing to help with a few research materials for a map set around Kiev. Never heard back from her though.

There is something intriguing about a knowledgable, attractive young woman who spends her time digging up actual WWII relics. She has multiple websites, including: Her Chernobyl trip is fascinating, regardless of whether or not it is real. I think it is, though there has been a lot of discussion over it.

This picture right here is either brave or stupid. (Yes, that's the Chernobyl reactor in front of her, and a dosimeter in her hand)

Hehe. :p Well, you gotta admit, it's not everyday you see a woman who knows what a dosimeter is - much less owns one, uses it, and has racked up actual rads on it.

[ insert bad tasteless joke about "hot" women here ]

It's just cool stuff. Much better than the usual myspace / webcam / meaningless blog crap usually attributed to women online.

Glad you liked it!

I don't see anything wrong with wishing you could find a lost SS ring. That'd be some Inidiana Jones-type stuff! (Mainly cause you'd have to try not blowing yourself up on 60+ year-old explosive devices while you looked.)

Eh, they cover the dead they find, and ditto with anything dangerous, don't see how she's a ghoul. That's really fascinating stuff, and I think I'd be right there digging, too.

Great info on the bunkers, and I loved the Chernobyl website.. that's the same woman? Didn't seem like it, though it's been a while since I've read the Chernobyl rides site.

It wouldn't be lost though it would be taken off someone's finger.

That's the problem, these people dig the bodies up strip them of anything that identifies them then dump the remains back in the hole so that if they do get discovered by a legit group later some family somwehere never gets to bury their father/uncle/whatever.

It stinks.

Especially as there are several groups in Russia that do go out to recover the bodies and don't see dollar signs in every grave. The word to search on is Poisk but here's a start.

http://www.russtransport.ru/ekipazh/photos.html - Ekipazh, Moscow based who work out of Poklonnaya Gora.

www.stalingrad-info.com - says it on the tin.

http://www.curme.co.uk/respect.htm - Cemetery at Rossoshka, Galina also works as a tour guide - http://www.stalingradtours.com

Broken id discs and dug up SS rings (she clearly says she wants one) only come from one type of place....and it isn't a supermarket.
i think you missed the point why she wants a SS ring...i dont know if you've been to eastern Europe...but money isnt nearly as easy to come by...and one of those rings could help pay for a lot of things over there

That doesn't even stand up to a moment's thought.

If you were in the SS would you not wear something Heinie had given you?

That's before you get to the German soldier's habit of wearing their awards into combat attested by many photographs.

As for your comments about where and how these are found are you really that naive? There was a mass grave of Napoleonic soldiers found in Lithuania a few years back where the skeletons were still wearing their uniforms. 60 years is hardly any time at all.

She's a grave robber - pure and simple - and, yes, it does grip my sh1t that people like that walk under the same sun I do.
