Question: Should I go for another matched pair of 2 x 1gb Corsair sticks when I already got 2 of these and I run XP? I recall reading something about XP only recognizing 3 gb

yes, XP32 can only handle 3GB, Vista can more though. Had a similar decision recently and decided not to get more. Im not going to Vista anytime soon.

To upgrade to 4GB its penuts, but do you really need 4GB in todays games? I have ran 2GB in my systems since 2005 and never had the need for any more.

Besides you would have to upgrade to Vista x64 or XP x64. Not worth the sacrifice IMO

RAM is on the dirt cheap at the moment. Manufacturers were doing something silly in an attempt to get the upper hand, however it failed and they ended up releasing a large amount of their stocks and flooding the market.
