I love this game and have been playing it since it was a mod. And I'd like to see a sequel with some improvements that will make it worth $50. (although I already like the game as it is)

Remember that the game is still new, and TWI will have no time to put into a new game until RO: HOS is up and running and a few patches have rolled out.

so wait, why is a sequel needed? KF left the whole campaign thing since 1.0, so the only reason i could see for a KF 2 would be a return of the campaign, which mostly wont happen, and if it did, why would that deserve a whole sequel when they could just take the maps they have now and transform into the campaign that we had in 1.0?

lol looks like i've opened a whole new can of worms. Oh well, at least it has it's own thread now.

For those of you that say there shouldn't be a KF 2, well we'll just see how RO:HOS turns out and compare that to the original and then apply that concept to KF.

Basically the only thing that can be upgraded in KF is the graphics and explorability potential and just general feature expansion. Let's face it, when it comes to just basic gameplay and killing specimens, KF already has that down to a T. As for the campaign, I don't see why they couldn't add that to the current KF, but I feel like the gameplay isn't suited very well for it without heavy changes being applied.

with that being said, LETS TRY TO KEEP THIS THREAD FREE OF REPLIES LIKE THESE:

"KF is already perfect why would you want a sequel"

"it's way too early to talk about a sequel dumbass"

If you don't like the idea of KF2 then don't post in this thread, k? This is KF not mario party. *****ing about sequels is unnecessary.

Also I seriously doubt you'll get an answer out of TWI about their plans for a sequel since they're already busy working on the current KF and other games like HOS.

omarfw, I'm really happy for you, and I'll gunna let cha finish, but considering l4d2 is just 1 year after l4d, and how ppl react to it, I have to say "it's way too early to talk about a sequel dumbasses", with "es" =))

it should be 3~4 years more before rolling out kf, and it should be on UT 3 (but too few ppl play kf, compare with RO, so best luck), more zed, better graphic, (and before u ask, no, no single mode. Game like quake, UT, RO and stuff have lived long without single mode, and that's what we should look forward to) and of course, MORE--F**KING--GUNZZZZZZ

cuz we all love to blast ugly things.

That isn't a very good example as L4D2 is not exactly that much different then L4D1 except that there's new maps, AI, weapons and chars. But the graphics are the same.

That would be like releasing a new KF that didn't look any better but had some more weapons and characters and maps and calling it KF2. Is it really all that different then KF1? No it's not and that could just be added to KF1 via an update.

Hence why people hate L4D2 because it's all just content they could've added to L4D1 via updates but instead decided to charge people 50 bucks again for a whole new game.

THAT'S why it was released only a year after the first one. Not because they worked hard on it and got it done quickly.

If they made KF2 would you really want it to use the same engine as KF1?

btw if I totally just misunderstood your post. sorry lol

Just for the purpose of speaking, I mean, writing ;)

"Why I hate L4d2" by Bio666 (I dont know about others, and frankly, I dont care)
It's only 1 year. Even if you say that it's a worthy upgrade of l4d, I still hate it. Make me feel cheap playing l4d and see others play l4d2. I got somewhat low salary, so money is, to a certain level, an issue to me. But 50 bucks for a year? Some say, it's good, I say, hell no. Cuz I dont have time to play as long as they do.

And it's 5 years since UT 2004, yet there's still game based on UT 2004. L4d is 4 years after Hl2, yet it based on the same engine. Old engine != bad game. Just bad graphic. And btw, I still own a Nitendo 64 and a Dreamcast. All your base are belong to me, muawahaaaaaa

If HL2 had been released using a "polished" version of HL1 engine I think people would be pretty pissed off.

The point being, people don't want sequels if they aren't the full package upgrade wise. In this day and age of automatic game updates, you don't release a sequel unless it's something you can't just add to your already existing game.

Probably the main problem with any kind of visual stuff is the first impression or what one could refer as "lookism" aswell.

If you release pure quality game with rather old visuals, people will often think negative things about it just because it's not on par by standards or so. If it looks great, then they get more easily eager about it and positive to some degree.

You could use this also in terms of quality when it comes to mods. If a mod releases early alpha due lack of testers in hope of getting some community feedback, some people might get truly bad impression and stop playing it altogether and even if it would become the next Counter Strike in terms of popularity or so, those who had bad first impression are still probably neglecting it.

It's own kind of paradox that whether it's the game's gunmetal gray shade puke-o-vision visuals or some colour set that is comparable being on drugs, if it doesn't look "good" it's not going to live up that well in general.

They won't even think about bothering with a sequel until RO:HOS is out and stable. After that though, I do think (eh hope) there will be a sequel to KF in a newer engine. I will DEFINITELY buy it. Gonna take a whiillee though.

I totally agree with Omarfw on this one. People have the right to talk about a sequel without being criticised. Tbh if they did roll out KF2 with a campaign, better graphics, a revamped perks system, in lets say 2 years, Who here wouldn't be interested in buying it?

I agree Bringing back the campaign from the 1.0 version of the mod wouldn't hurt and it might get people interested in mapping for the KFS gamemode. Also I'm not against the idea of KF2 but we could give it a bit of time as KF has only recieved 1 extremly substantial update"Heavy Metal" and the game is still fresh. The only thing I could think of is putting it on an engine Like UE3 or whatever HOS is gunna run on(I think its modded version of UE3 but it might just be standard UE3) and give it some value for the whiny graphics whores. The thing is a sequel at this point would just be an upgrade and that can be done through free or paid DLC so why bother. When a story mode is added and some new ideas are put in place as well as fixing as many bugs as possible then KF2 is a huge possiblility.

My own personal hell
If the story mode could be added through an update, and it seem like it could given mods, than it would be a better idea to do so. If the engine was changed, all current mods and maps would have to be ported. This is a big deterrent for people to make maps and mods if they have to be ported every couple of years. If it happens every 4 years then more have been released but focus can be put at porting mods and maps that have longevity and support from the community.
